IHSAA can't do anything about it apparently. This is from a friend that has emailed them constantly.

Maybe IHSAA can't do anything about it. But PCM & Perry have a triangle meet with RS this Thu at R/S. The PCM & Perry AD's could no show, but instead have a dual at PCM or Perry.

R/S is hosting a wrestling Tournament this Saturday. Schools registered could pull out and find another tournament later in the season.

My son was getting bullied in Highschool. Kids were going up and grabbing his chest. When he told me about it I had a meeting with the principal and vice principal. Their stance was it is just boys being boys and there was really nothing they could do. Then I asked if it was my daughter that was getting her chest grabbed by these boys, and all of a sudden the their attitude changed. They did an investigation and suspended the boys for breaking student code policy.
I couldn't believe that they did not want to do anything.

To me and my simple mind, if the kid is charged with a felony but has not had his day in court, I can go 50-50 on him competing.

But this kid cut a deal to get it out of adult court and plead guilty to the charges. He’s got to sit out at least this season and show he can toe the line to come back next season at the very least.

Well said....especially for the victim and family...and the likely small town dynamics piling on top of the initial crime.

As noted, he plead guilty.....got him a deal to not end up in a jail cell....wrestling should be a no brainier to take away....I'm on the fence with should he be allowed to be in school vs expelled.

I recall small town stuff back in the day.....kid gets in trouble....supposed to miss next couple activities, joins a couple new activities to them still be able to go to prom.....some parents thought those kids were just the smartest as they found a work around.

But as an uninformed party to this I’m still good with innocence until proven guilty. But now that he’s pled guilty, eff him .

Chris Beard is innocent until proven guilty but he is not coaching or getting paid. This kid admitted. Pled guilty, and is still wrestling. No way should he be wrestling.

I’ve read messages in this forum that the victim’s family moved away from RS; however, I haven’t seen that reported (admittedly I haven’t searched in very much depth).

Has it been reported to where they moved to?

I’m positive they lived in Roland and moved away. I’m not sure where they moved to.

I would hope it isn't reported. They're moving for a fresh start.

Who in there right mind would want to be associated with Roland/Story schools at this time? This is an embarrassment.

I believe this incident happened off school grounds so I’m not sure how the school would be liable.

Side note—-Schools, in many cases, do not have the ability to comment on student/personnel decisions nor can they comment on closed school board hearings involving things like long term suspensions or expulsions. Because of this, districts do not really control the narrative when things happen regarding students, teachers, or coaches and it does tend to look bad.

I'm sure the attempted suicide was off school grounds as well but the school is still responsible. The victims mother made multiple attempts to report the bullying without any response. They need to be held accountable.

I don’t understand the timeline of events. This appeared to happen on this New Years. The investigation started in April. He was charged in October? Why did it take 4 months to start the investigation?

He left the district, where too I dont know. Probably South Hamilton, Gilbert, Nevada? Who knows

I don't think this has been asked/answered: normally do the parents or victim have to sign off with the DA/police to let them offer/take a plea deal in a case like this?

No clue but he plead guilty to go through Juvi court.

But to play Devils advocate here, and remember I’m a pretty simple fellow, from what I understand from Chris Beards case, the police were on scene, compared to Blume and rumors running around town for months while the police were investigating. In that deal I’m 50-50 like I said with innocence until proven guilty.

But now that Blume cut a deal and admits guilt, see ya.

To the powers that be in the RS school district, grow a set. You know the right thing to do

This is so messed up. Kid gets violated and had to move to a new town just for a new start. The kid that assaulted gets to stay in his school, gets to wrestle, and life goes on. RS school district needs to reevaluate priorities.

I wonder if it was a female that he assaulted would the penalty be the same?? Would the school district still have the same punishment??
