Jake Marlin has never been arrested. He is one of the nicest kids I have ever met. He is happily married and a father of two children. Where do you people get this crap? He went o the same high school as Andrew Long so he is all of the sudden part of Long's crimes?
Who the **** said he was guilty of anything. I just mentioned that Creston had good teams back when they were both there. No idea where you come up with this **** but thanks for commenting on something that was never said. Sorry Karen you that bored this morning?

Every competing school should remove Roland Story from their schedules. Any tournaments should ban them. School doesn’t want to take action for this then **** them and their athletic department as a whole.

Someone is going to say well how’s that fair to the other kids that had nothing to do with it? It isn’t but guess what not standing up for what’s right means you are accepting that what was done was okay.

I saw a news report that it has changed and they won't have to, which is good news. I just don't understand how people don't get right from wrong when it comes to acts like this. And if they do, just disregard another person and act this way.

Or the RS wrestlers could stand up and say"Not on our team". If the school allows the kid to wrestle, then all the other wrestlers sit out in protest.
Yes this is harsh but I would have so much respect for a team that does that.

Calm down, buddy. The post you "liked" earlier in this thread is pretty unclear. The first time I read it, I assumed it was referring to Jake being arrested for public intox. I assume given your defensiveness here, it was referring to Long?

Or better yet just pull your kids off the team and open-enroll to another school. Open closed case since they all could be worried it could happen to them.

The adult “leaders” need to stand up. While I agree this would be an awesome gesture by the team. That is a huge ask of 14-15 year kids who probably mostly idolize Blume.

Good point. I don't know the rules for open enrollment but that could be an option.

There are kids on the team that aren't even from RS school district that didn't even know about this until after it all started and it isn't possible to open enroll and still get in on this season.

Not exactly sure.
The kids should not have to decide here. The kids should never decide something like this. Several years ago, I was talking to someone from my old town, didn't know them then, and we asked about this one kid who had quit and rejoined a couple times and been in trouble a couple times. The coach had the kids vote if he could come back, a coward move. This team had been placing at duals and around top 5 at traditional and this was a high point scorer. When you have the kids vote, there is only one kid who will vote no and that is the kid whose spot he is taking. So what did it say to that kid, hey sorry that you did the right things but winning is more important. I no longer care for my alma maters wrestling team due to that move.

The adults need to be adults and say this doesn't happen on our team. Coach needs to set him down and say, you can be out because that is your right as a student here, but that doesn't mean I need to start you and you will be wrestling JV the rest of this season here.

Clearly there are people in leadership positions who can’t and shouldn’t be leading young kids. Then and now.

I totally agree with you that the parents/adults/school board need to stand up and take action. Well, looks like the school board is not taking appropriate action, let's see if the adults/parents will.

I feel like this is a pretty easy decision to make, no? You're either hurting one child (who has hurt others and has indicated he will plead guilty to the acts), or you're hurting an entire team and drawing shame and criticism to your entire school, district, and community. If this decision stands, RS will be known as the school who is ok with sexual assault.

EDIT:
This is beyond WTF

On Monday, several cheerleaders told KCCI they faced an ultimatum from school leaders: Cheer for Blume on the wrestling mat or quit. The school now says cheerleaders won't be penalized if they don't cheer for Blume.

There is no longer a deadline for open enrolling, so they can do it any time. Cannot participate in varsity level sports for 90 school days, or half a year, but this may fall under the "good cause" criteria due to threat of bullying/assault, which would make everyone eligible.

I don’t remember anything about this Long guy. Anyone have anything to share?

Fights anyone and everyone the minute he has alcohol. Got busted for a number of alcohol related and fighting charges at Iowa state. Transferred to Penn state, kept up the same stuff. On top of a sexual assault charge against an older lady. Became washed up, came back to central iowa, and still acts the same.
