It is a thing but it isn’t a very high percentage, between 10-15% and is only for more aggressive prostate cancer usually. While it is still a risk, if you are an otherwise healthy male the risk is low.
Not just cancer but prostate problems as well.

My wife choose not to because she didn’t want the nausea. She did fine. She thinks you’re a big ***** but that’s mostly because you’re a spartan fan.
If she is worried about being nauseous there are plenty of drugs you can take for that. No reason to deliver without pain meds unless your Dr gives you a reason not to. You’re just getting additional pain when you didn’t have to.

Can slow labor, make it harder to push effectively, make baby a bit sluggish. Again, I had a whole lot of epidural that was largely pointless but there are valid reasons to abstain if one chooses.

If your wife can go through pregnancy/delivery, you sure as hell can sacrifice a few days for this surgery.

Not sure why there would be a cancer risk associated with the procedure… am I missing something?
Again the idea of it isn’t a certainty but there is research going for it. I’ve never heard of it being a reason to recommend against a vasectomy for a healthy male otherwise

You got them all riled up.
Triggering for me for sure. Had a lot of patients deny pain meds wanting a “natural” birth only to scream for them when they could no longer be safely administered.

I’ve also had a patient come in because “something is wrong down there” and they were actively giving birth having no idea they were even pregnant.

Not exactly sure.
Hmmm, rum kicking in tonight? :) ;)
Personally I've always believed all drugs are good drugs as long as they don't hurt me in the long run.
Except novacaine at the dentist. Life is much better when you tell them none of that crap.

It’s the doom and gloom thing because some research says you could be at higher risk. The number of men you know in your life that have had a vasectomy and never had any prostate issues is insanely high. It’s along the lines of having a side affect to medications. Sure they are there because it has happened, but if you want to live your life based on the low percentage go for it.

Interesting. Thanks for the link. On the other side of the coin, I’ve heard (and maybe this is hearsay?) that a woman getting her female equivalent of a surgery is more likely to have issues than a vasectomy but then again, I didn’t really argue much with my wife when I did it as it wasn’t a huge deal to me.

This guy seems legit for the procedure. Found his card posted at restaurant in Eastern Iowa....

No a female getting her tubes tied is a very invasive procedure. For men it’s outpatient back on their feet in a couple of days no issues. Tubal ligation is much more serious, can have horrible side effects and takes much longer to recover from.

Edit* forgot to add that while there is a very small risk of getting pregnant after tubal ligation if you do get pregnant an ectopic pregnancy is far more likely then not.
