Interesting. Thanks for the link. On the other side of the coin, I’ve heard (and maybe this is hearsay?) that a woman getting her female equivalent of a surgery is more likely to have issues than a vasectomy but then again, I didn’t really argue much with my wife when I did it as it wasn’t a huge deal to me.
The two procedures aren’t even in the same ballpark. It’s like comparing a broken arm to having that arm amputated. Seriously, it’s a 20 min outpatient procedure with a couple of days of light recovery vs a major surgical procedure with several weeks of recovery.

No a female getting her tubes tied is a very invasive procedure. For men it’s outpatient back on their feet in a couple of days no issues. Tubal ligation is much more serious, can have horrible side effects and takes much longer to recover from.

Edit* forgot to add that while there is a very small risk of getting pregnant after tubal ligation if you do get pregnant an ectopic pregnancy is far more likely then not.

Yeah no tubal unless you are already having a c section.

Had mine done 15 years ago During March madness. Knowing there weren’t any fish in the sea made her more willing to drink the water.

Not exactly sure.
Local doctor who used to perform them wasn’t good at it. Several surprises years down the road. Wife’s cousin had two kids after his.

Get one or don't
Without knowing anything else: talk to your primary care doc, not CF. Unless you’re interested in every piece of anecdotal evidence ever, combined with a lack of actual information. Or at least ignore everyone on here but the actual clinicians. And me. Good luck!

The one thing I forgot to mention and didn't check to see if anyone else wrote about it:

Sometimes the women will not be attracted to the man that doesn't have sperm available for her and no chance of a baby with sex. A subconscious kind of thing for the women. So may need to take that into account for your own personal situation. I think it just depends on the woman.

Actually you should make an appointment and talk to a urologist, they will be the ones doing the procedure and will be able to answer any questions and evaluate your specific case.

The reason I said PCP was that the urologist has a bit of a moral hazard when it comes to discussing pros and cons. But definitely have a specialist do the work!

If you want to do it during March Madness you need to be scheduling it now. I waited until February to schedule mine and wasn't able to get a time until April.

One thing to take into consideration if getting your wife's tied is you probably will not be able to get it done at Mercy Hospital or any hospital that is affiliated with the Catholics. We had a scheduled C section for our 2nd child and wanted to tie tubes at the same time and was told we didn't meet the criteria to do that at their hospital. They have very strict criteria of when they will allow that. Methodist Hospital will allow it but not all OB will deliver there so something to discuss with your OB if getting tubes during a C section.

I don't think any guy likes the idea of getting snipped but as many others here have said it's not as bad as it sounds and the recover is pretty quick.

Wife’s cousins wife that I mentioned who had two kids after his V, had hers done at mercy.
