Such a great win on the road today! What a week! 2 road wins in a week? I wonder when is the last time that has happened?

If you count games a week apart with a game between you might count this stretch:

Saturday January 16 2016: W @ KSU
Monday January 18 2016: Home W vs #1 OU
Saturday January 23 2016: W @ TCU
Monday January 25 2016: W vs #4 KU

Otherwise, for 2 road games back to back:

Saturday February 18, 2015: W @ #22 WVU
Wednesday February 21 2015: W @ Texas

Just a quality win, on the road against a ranked team, they grind it out to find a way to win. This team reminds me of the Fiser teams, every possession matters, and very few easy shots. It's not pretty to watch sometimes, but damn does it win games.

Agreed. I know he can almost sound like an ISU Homer at times and probably pisses off other fan bases, but I love it. He is also so knowledgeable about the Big 12 teams overall.
He does sound like a homer but he did talk Eddie and Miles up a lot even Baugh.

Generally when ISU is playing and the announcers are terrible they don't have much to say about our guys, but at least Fran makes it seem like both teams could have found a way to win.... He's just an ISU Homer about it

There's a difference between recklessly closing out, which is what your high school coach hated, and contesting a shot. You're not trying to block the shot. At this level, if you close out without contesting, they will shoot right over you with no issue.
Guys at this level also know if they have a clean look or are actually at risk of having a shot blocked. Miles has enough space he knows Lipsey is not getting a hand on that.

I see the point you’re trying to make, but flying past that good of a shooter - and taking yourself out of the play or risking a foul - is not good return on investment there. I promise you a shooter like Miles is not affected by a fly-by like that from Lipsey.

I agree with earlier posters that - while there was no doubt a leg kick-out on that - it probably wasn’t worth the risk of fouling. Especially at that point in the game.

Gabe’s was worse. I think late in the shot clock and not a clean look in rhythm like the foul on Lipsey. With Gabes you just have to tip your cap to the guy if he makes that shot. And if you’re the coach you live with that because the chances of making it are probably 10%.

Does this put us at 5 quad 1 wins?
No. We’re probably down to 3 quad 1 wins now assuming Baylor slips below 30 with another loss today.

OU, TCU on the road and UNC on neutral court will be our quad 1s (all subject to change, of course)

Not surprising that 3 of Fran’s 5 examples were Kansas shooters. I think they patented the leg kick.
NBA players like Harden, Curry, and Trae Young ultimately forced a rule change in the league. Was not directed at leg kicks in particular, but those were mentioned in the rule change. But yes - KU has been getting away with this for years. Especially at the Phog.

Bob Jones was great today, but can the coaches just start getting him to shoot granny style from the free throw line? I don't understand why bad free throw shooters dont do this.
I remember his first game as a Cyclone. He got fouled early in the game, and this was before any of us knew anything about him other than that he tries really hard.

He literally banked both free throw shots and they went in. I'm not sure he has gone 2/2 since that fateful night. I'm pretty certain he never tried banking one again either. Maybe he just needs to try doing that again. Idk. But teams are gonna start to give him the Shaq treatment soon if he doesn't improve.

I love Watson too, and REALLY want him to grow into a solid player with us. Seems like a great young man. But Lampkin completely owned him down low. Lampkin for TCU just outmuscled him the vast majority of the game. Dude is a beast. lol

He gives up about 5 inches and close to 80 pounds so not too surprising I guess, that a 190 pound soaking wet freshman guard is getting bodied by a 6'11" 265 pound center in his 3rd year with a Big 12 program. Pretty bizarre take if you ask me. Watson getting owned in a physical mismatch is neither surprising nor concerning in the least. Now if he had been getting owned by O'Bannon or Peavy you may have had a point, since those would be more logical comparisons to make. But that wasn't the case anyway. Watson has been really good and is doing exactly what TJ needs him to be doing out there right now.
Gabe’s only made three, the game winner!!! Interesting stat.
Are you even an Iowa State fan?

According to Miles, he's quite pleased with the game! "It showed we can play with anybody," Miles said. "We didn't play our best game on either defense or offense. We shot bad from the line, we had a lot of turnovers, and we still only lost by two. It shows how good of a team we are.""
I have no problem with his comments. He did give a back handed compliment of sorts, but in reality I'd rather have a guy like this on my team that is gonna speak belief and positivity rather than sulk and throw blame around internally
