Except half of their games are on the SEC Net or B1G Net... which half the people say they dont want for the B12. No casual fan is going to switch to those networks....unless they are specifically a fan of those leagues or seeking one of those games. Our content that would be on a B12 network is on ESPN+ Just like these others have on their networks. Then all the rest of their content is on their streaming platforms, for VB, and Wrestling etc. Like ESPN+ B1G+ etc. All of our extra content is in one place. ESPN+

Do you want a B12 network? Do you want it to look like the PacNet, that is only available on a very select few sources? How much exposure are they getting for the casual fan? Sure the B1Gnet has a lot of subscribers, but how much does their extra content have? How much do the extra games and content on their streaming get seen. I know I never see it. But I see the extra content all over for all the Big 12 and SEC etc on ESPN+ Just like they see ours.

23M subs on ESPN+ up 7M in 1 year. Growing fast. I think a lot of casual fans are seeing the content. That is about 1/3 of the total subscribers for ESPN in the US(about 75M and dropping in '22) But growing. ESPN2,U,News etc have less than half the subs than that of the main channel.

43M subs on Hulu.

Soon ESPN+ will have just as much exposure as what ESPN2,U, and News have, and start to catch the main channel.

I have not seen the problem with the announcers etc that some have, for the most part. I mean sometimes they arent great, but its not like watching terrible B1GNet announcers, or big name national guys that only brag up SEC or B1G people. And I rarely have had any tech issues either. Sure sometimes it could be better product but it is light years better than CyTv was.

And Hey I didnt live in the metro until a few years ago, so I never had the luxury of seeing Iowa State on local TV. Some of you forget that. A few years ago if you didnt live in the metro area, it was pretty hard to see all the games, hell it was impossible. You were lucky to see a few.

Edit: the 75M ESPN main channel subs is for Cable and satellite. I didnt see that it did not include streaming until a second look. Streaming may be harder for them to discern with the combination of Plus in some packages. International numbers for the main channel are around 140M, but I dont know what content is shown in other countries. But the other sub channels like ESPN2, are in the 50Ms total.
Some good points you make here. I may give it another try.

As far as the espn+ announcers, they are prolly not that bad. I have in mind the one female pxp person, who I think is not great. But she might not be espn+ even.

I just wish you didn't have to have mulitple subscritions to get all the Cyclones or Big12 content. Until it evolves to something better (?), I still have John and Eric.

I'm probably like a lot of people back in the day. Grew up with only 3 or 4 channels...then Fox came on the scene...then cable. It was great to see technology provide us with so many new channels. Then, if you didn't want cable...you could get a dish. With the explosion in technology and computers and smart phone and smart tvs...it has morphed into streaming to provide even more content and sports.
Not much is free anymore. Gone are the days of 3 channels and sports only on the weekends. There are people that don't understand technology, let alone how to use it. Instead of learning it...they just choose not to use it.
. My dad is like that. He just says Mom will let him know any social news about family and friends she reads on the social networks. She has learned how to use a computer.
My point here is if you want to continue to watch Iowa State sports to its fullest capacity, you have to evolve or get left behind and, like my Dad...let others fill you in after the fact.

You dont have to have more than one.

Hulu+Live comes with ESPN+ and Disney+ Included.

This includes all the ESPN channels live and on demand ESPN, 2,U,News

All the Fox channels live and on demand...and also able to use the Fox sports App
All the local channels Live and on demand like ABC NBC CBS FOX
All the sports channels like B1GNet SECnet ACCNet CBSSN FS1 FS2 etc
Pretty much every major cable channel live and on demand....except AMC...yet.
Ability to add premiums like HBO etc, if wanted. Live and on demand

Pretty sure every single thing that Iowa State has available to view is available on Hulu+Live, with the included ESPN+ besides the content on CyTV. Which is just old reruns at this point? I have no idea what else could be on there.

local channels are on Hulu+Live. I dont know about YTTV but I am sure they are.
I get all the local ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC etc channels just like it is cable, only it comes thru the internet instead of cable.

I also have a slim antenna on a couple TVs that pulls in most if not all locals...Just in case. All but hidden sits on top of TV. Not really needed but Its just in case of emergency thing for me. I think it stems from my days of having satellite and bad weather it going out, I wanted to have a way to see the weather during storms. not really an issue with Hulu+Live.

Antenna is this. sits right on top of tv barely see it.

We have one that is similar but goes in a window. We bought it when Mediacom had their 2-year beef with ABC and its affiliates. :)

Speaking of which...does that ever become an issue with YTTV or Hulu + live? Losing channels because they have contract disagreements?

It hasn't happened yet, but I am not happy they can't get a deal done with Bally sports.

The fact that this game is not flexed to ESPNU (which covers the Drake vs. Bradley) is absolute ********!!!!

I get that. For me, it is part of the problem, currently. And I'm trying to do it the cheapest way.

Right now I have YouTube, which gets all the espn ones, except espn+. I might not renew after Jan.

I also have Disney (atleast used to) for free. I think that went away. I have Hulu basic which is only about $8/mo. Hulu+Live is nice but jumps in price to about $65/mo.

It can get kind of confusing. That's why I'm in no real hurry to revisit all the options.

They took them all over.
Oklahoma had a contract with Bally for their tier 3 until 2022. And Texas had a separate contract with ESPN for LHN that is why they were not included in the ESPN+ contract with the irate 8 for $4m each +/-. Oklahoma moved their tier 3 to ESPN+ in 2022. Texas still has LHN through 2025. OU and UT had a much larger $$ contract than what the rest of the Big 12 got with ESPN+ that is why they stayed separate. I do not know how much Oklahoma got to move its content in 2022.

Edit: I just realized you might have been talking the Fox sports regionals.. I thought there was a few they didnt get.

TJ's troop is playing some of the best basketball in the country. Too bad nobody is going to see it! Tech, and upcoming games at ku, vs Texas, and at OSU are all on the tv stream that nobody watches.
I had a subscription last season to espn+. Somehow they determined I had a fake account. Every game I had to delete the app, reload it and put in my password. Otherwise it would just lock me out. Vowed they would never get another dollar from me.
This Saturday, there will be 2 games matching top 25 teams. Both will be in the Big 12. One of them features teams tied for first, in the toughest mbb conference in the usa. Should be the headline event. Where can you watch this you ask? Almost no one will see this high level game because it is on the antithesis of the "mothership". The network no one watches. The tier 3. The minus. And the big 12 certainly doesn't make any money on it.
I'll be listening to John and Eric. Again.
Rant over.
This could be game of the week and it’s on ESPN+???!?!

No matter how many times it's explained, people just don't get it. ESPN has a great game that can force more subscribers to their online platform. Simple as that.

I'm headed to Iowa City later today. Anybody know a bar that shows ESPN+? Worst case I will watch on my iPad while at The Vine.
