Not exactly sure.
Shanahan or someone had a chance to challenge that call. You could tell he didn't catch it by the way he was trying to get everyone lined up for the next play. That was a huge play in the game, because it was a 4th down and could have been the 49ers ball at midfield.
They also have instant reviews now that fix obvious screw ups. Figured that was an easy one. You could see that his hands were moving and the receiver got up and acted like a drop.

Coaches shouldn't have to waste their timeouts though for clueless officiating. It should have been looked at closer upstairs.
That is true, but the officials blew it so the 49er bench should have called timeout to get the call corrected. Next to Purdy being knocked out, I'd say it was the biggest play of the game.

Testifying
One thing I know is that Johnson won't be the starting QB for the 49ers next season

I really question the 49ers management for knowing how bad Johnson was and not going out to get another guy as the backup when it was clear that Jimmy was not come back. How Johnson was able to bounce around the NFL for 15 years is hard to understand.
Interestingly (or maybe not), I saw Josh Johnson play in college - when he led his undefeated San Diego Toreros (7-0) into Welcome Stadium @ Dayton and lost 16-35 to the Flyers (7-1) in 2007. I literally went to the game because he was considered an NFL prospect in the PFL!

From the 49ers management perspective there’s just no downside for them to opening up training camp and having a qb competition, which really sucks for Purdy not having the job secured. would be very pleasantly surprised if that is not the case, and he’s just named the starter.

Worst NFC Championship game I think I've ever watched... and I really didn't care who won.... I like Hurts as much a Purdy, and neither of these teams is my favorite... I'm a Packers fan. But that game was just awful.

If Mahomes and Kelce aren't healthy, this AFC Championship actually could be worse though. Might be a HUGE let down of a day of football.

You obviously missed the 1979-80 (January) NFC Championship game won by the L.A. Rams over the Tamp Bay Bucs 9-0. The Rams were 9-7 in the Regular Season that year, and they decided to score just 9 points in the NFC Championship Game @ Tampa!

Whether the 49ers say it publicly or not, they are going to look closely at both QBs and honestly I can't blame them. I haven't seen anything from Trey to think he was worth what they paid, but he might be better next year. I hope Brock wins it.

TBF we didn't see the field side view until after.

Agreed. I didn't think there was much chance that they would trade Lance before, but I've got to think it's even lower now, with Purdy's injury. Two talented young quarterbacks on rookie deals is a great place to be.

Low scoring doesn't mean a bad game necessarily though. Today's game was just awful to watch. 49ers had no shot after each team had one possession.

I was screaming for Shanahan to call timeout so it would be reviewed. They shouldn't have had to do that, but they blew it when they allowed the Eagles to get the next play off.

I wonder if the rules committee will discuss this play in the off season? This would be a play to point to, that perhaps after the next play is run, and the replay shows an obvious error in the call, that they could and should correct it?

I am not an expert on NFL personnel management and cap space, but I don’t see how you’d trade Lance and his contract at this point. What a luxury to have two solid QBs on your roster for that kind of money. That’s obviously not going to work in perpetuity. My expectation is They’ll be able to decide when they have a bigger body of work and contracts are closer to expiration.

Others more knowledgeable than me about the subject may correct me and I’d welcome more education on the topic.

Also, I don’t know how you don’t give Purdy the job, but can also don’t see huge downside to a legit competition unless they think it’s really going to create a problem in the lockeroom.

I can’t believe that no one asked Shanahan in the press conference about the QB situation going forward.

They're not ever going to go back and correct something after the next play has been run.

I watched it. It was a BAD game. Two awful, awful offenses.

I believe you. Didn't either team have their 3rd string QB get injured in his first series of the game though... and had to go to a 4th stringer that had no business being on a football field? This game was over when that happened.
