Not as horrifying as Fred's last game in 2015, seems to me.

Invited to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year, the #3 seed Cyclones were upset by #14 seed UAB, 60–59, in the first round.

Look at it this way...after today's game, we may not lose any underclassmen remaining to the NIL. There's that.
Plenty of shots to offer transfers.

When you find yourself googling fewest points in an NCAA tournament game, things did not go well. Hit the portal for some shooting!
Desperately need some guys that can create their own shots. Gabe is the only guy I would consider being able to do this on this team. Not sure who, if any of the seniors are going to come back. Eli King might need to go down a level. None of the big guys was a threat to score outside of 3 feet, and a couple can only score on dunks, or layups.

Love the team
Hate the result
Feel bad for the guys who played their final NCAA game

After having a son go thru a CT scan on his brain while the team went thru the UAB loss, I realized an NCAA loss was small potatoes and have been a more content cyclone fan ever since.

Wrestling "blood round" tonight with five wrestlers having a shot at all American and one wrestler two wins away from a title. Women play tomorrow. Go cyclones

Honest question. Do we think that TJ is NOT looking for people who can shoot? Is it possible that those people are getting better offers and just not coming to play for ISU and he puts together the best game plan he can based on what he CAN get here?

Maybe he is saying, "nah, get lost", to a bunch of guys that can hit 35%+ from 3, if that is the case, I would question his strategy a little. But, I'm not sure that is the case.

Remember when we were on track to be a 2 seed earlier in the year? Silver lining: I'm happy we did a bit of imploding as the conference season progressed so we could drop this turd as a 6 seed instead of another 2 vs 15 seed upset.

There was a trajectory similar to 2018-19 (specific details differed, of course) ... Solid non-conference, strong start to conference season, good enough resume to be part of in-season bracket reveal, lost a ton of games in late February / early March, signs of resurgence with a couple of wins at the end (Big 12 tournament in '19; sweeping Baylor this year) ... get a 6 seed, lose to an 11 seed.

I'm happy with the season. Anything we do in the tournament is usually the cherry on to for me. It's too much of a crap shoot to depend on. We laid an egg offensively. At some point you have to make shots. Perfect storm of not getting anything going inside, and even when we did, we usually missed the layup, the entire team being cold from 3, and also sucked at free throws. I'm already over it, looking forward to next year.

A game so tragic & miserable you spend the rest of your life trying to invent time travel just to go back and not watch it.

A game so season-destroying and nationally embarrassing, at this moment you actually can't imagine spending money to travel to an ISU tournament game ever again.

A game that should inspire the NCAA to reform and automatically award the Death Penalty top any program scoring below 42 in the tournament from here on out.

Haven't been around long have you.
Basketball wise that was the worst and has nothing to do with how long you have been miserable. Offensively, the largest dog turd maybe ever. Your years of service mean nothing, lol. That was abysmal.

And before anyone says we overachieved, are missing a starter, etc., none of that matters. We played, quite possibly, the worst basketball in quite some time.

I looked at the box score. Objectively - the best offensive game was Hassan Ward. He took zero shots in 13 minutes and only had one turnover
So, if the whole team produced like ward, we lose by less than 18?

How many mid majors and double digit seeds are dropping threes left and right. I don’t think there is a shortage of shooters due to NIL. Maybe ones that can defend.

I get that might not fit into your defensive strategy but at some point you got to have some offense to go with it.
