So the concession Michigan State made was to give up a home game and play in Detroit instead? Wow.

I’m very excited about it. We’re probably going to have around 3 wins next year. Night game late November outside would have horrific turnout. Dome will be much nicer to lose in. Hated the way they did the season ticket reimbursement though

So the ACC is going this route, decent chance the PAC may go this route, MWC is already there, Big 12 was (now teams are pretty equal and guessing they will be the last to do it). How long before Bama, Georgia, OSU and Mich say they are pulling in the big bucks from the playoffs and want some? I know Spartan says it will never happen in the big ten since they are all looking out for each other, but I think those teams could have an itch soon.

I don't know if it will ever happen in the Big 10 or SEC but if it does my guess is Texas will be the one that drives it. If they ever get to a Georgia or Alabama level and the Big 10 is still paying out more than the SEC they will want a bigger cut.

Ha. If Texas goes 8-4 three years in a row they will want more money lol.

Cant wait til they ruin the SEC...

Would Dabo look at it if Clemson is stuck in the ACC for another 15 years?

Chris Peterson? Luke Fickell? Josh Heupel?

Dabo is not a fit there. Day isn’t going anywhere though unless he chooses to leave. If he did go Hartline or Vrabel would be Option 1’s.

Michigan is important, but it’s hard to describe how the most important thing to fans and donors is recruiting, specifically how many 5 stars and the national ranking. That is pretty all the radio guys and pundits talk about.

The in-depth analysis and time spent on recruiting in the media and fan base is wild.

Buckeye fans are delusional. Day has lost 6 total games in 4 years. Of those losses, 3 were in the CFP(Clemson, Clemson, UGA), 2 were to Michigan, and a week 2 game against Oregon.

LOL Nebraska learned that the hard way. Never have recovered not saying that would happen to OSU but it would be funny if it did.

To be fair I also have my Michigan blinders on when it comes to this. But we did just deny another star transfer from coming in (Caleb Love) due to academics which seemingly only happens in the Michigan AD.
Yes, I'd say this is Michigan blinders by you. Martelli said the coaches had nothing to do with it and it was purely an admissions office thing. It simply is the same thing everybody that transfers from one large school to another experiences - schools are complete dicks and screw you over about how many credits, what level of course they accept, and what requirements it meets as an equivalent. As someone who transferred from another large state school to ISU (and considered others), I can tell you this is absolutely the norm. Had I been making the same transfer after three years like Love, if my one year is any indication it would've derailed graduation by a year or more.

This usually just doesn't come up in basketball much because 1. basketball usually rules the decision and players may not care so much that they are losing credits or ones that once filled a specific requirement are only being accepted as electives, 2. Most guys are transferring either early enough in their careers where they aren't worried about it, or they're fifth year guys where taking a hit on credits isn't that big a deal.

Schools cool on HS recruits and transfers every year in every league all the time because of academic concerns, usually risks not qualifying.

By all accounts published and statements from the program, this wasn't in the least bit an academic standard issue or concern. It was a kid committing to transfer to Michigan, working through admissions on transfer, and Love realizing he's not getting what he wants in terms of transfer credits. Maybe he'll find a school that accepts credits more readily, or maybe he'll find out most schools are pretty brutal in this regard and just have to live with it.

Dabo is the leading contender to take over from Saban when he calls it a career, he played football at Alabama and was a GA there and will be the coach to follow up Saban, if he wants it.

To have a long down period like Nebraska would be tough for Ohio State. The state of Ohio and surrounding states produce too many elite HS football players. How many 4 or 5 star kids does Nebraska produce each year? The surrounding states can't help much either.

Other than being a blue blood during the back half of the 20th century and the state's only P5 school, Nebraska doesn't have any more advantages to promote success than other programs in the upper Midwest. Their record over the last 15 years has shown that.

Sure if Matt Rhule is the real deal he could lift them back to an 8 or 9 win team consistently. But if that happens, he's gone. With Ohio State, 8 or 9 wins is their floor.

Who knew Michiganders were such Sallies?!?!
When the home team is 3-8 going into the game no one is going to want to sit in that weather, if the record was reversed (or better) wouldn’t be an issue.

Now watch it now be unseasonably warm and this is going to look really silly

We had a decent crowd to play Kansas with kickoff near 0. MSU sounds like a soft fan base.

Battle for the Bottom of the Big XII! Remember that game vividly. Honestly one of the funnest games I had ever been to. I had a thermos of hot chocolate a peppermint schnapps, myself and just about everyone has snuck in a bottle of fireball. Wasn't that the only shutout in the Big XII that year?

ISU has had a night game in November almost every year for many years, at home. Several being in or around the last week of Nov. They all have reported attendance of 90%+ with some at capacity. Our Night game on Nov 19th against TT, last year, was just shy of 90% and was in a year where we went 4-8 and TT was just .500 at the time.

I watch NFL games in places like Green Bay, Buffalo, and Chicago into January all with full outdoor stadiums.

Guess those Michigan fans are more fair weather fans than I thought.

Yep! If sparty is good the fans show up regardless of the weather. When they aren’t they don’t because the game day experience is pretty bad and navigating the campus in ****** weather as a non student is brutal.

Michigan fans it’s a bit different because the games are either blow outs (so most people try to get rid of tickets or leave at half) or super close so the atmosphere is awesome.

Good on ISU fans for showing up regardless of the weather, I’m not watching a beat down (regardless of direction) while freezing my ass off and dealing with traffic when I could be warm watching in 4K.

There was a guy a couple rows in front of us, he asked us to take his picture so he could send to a friend or whoever. He quick strips off his coat, sweatshirts, tshirts etc to get bare-chested. We take the pic. Then you have never seen anyone get dressed faster than that guy. Man that was funny.

The game tho was awful; the field was frozen and slick for the players. We had to run stairs a few times to keep our feet warm. We did leave early, but we made the 2nd half. Thank gods they won.

Why some sphincter chose 7pm on a late november game between two going-nowhere teams is beyond me.
