My first thought was it could be tied to the Caesar’s Sportsbook which is in the Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs
Did I miss something about BB players being involved?

You can read between the lines a little bit-- Williams would have been involved had he not left the team.
Post # 256 mentioned rumors of Dekkers being a "ring leader" in all of this. It would be really disappointing if he convinced some teammates to get involved in this mess and potentially ruining their careers.
This wouldn’t surprise me if this was the case. From the 4 or 5 practices I’ve been to over the last year and a half, Dekkers doesn’t seem to have the type of leadership qualities you want in a QB. Something about him just seems deceitful, smug and arrogant, IMO.
In other news, I’m hearing the guys who are caught up in this are back participating in team activities so 1. maybe it won’t be a full season suspension and 2. maybe this is telling us we’ll hear the outcome behind all of this smoke soon, as early as this week(?)
I get Ryan Leaf vibes in a way but that's total judgement from the couch.
Perhaps some of the players were coerced into it without realizing what it is (highly unlikely but not sure why else they wouldn't have the same fate as like the Iowa baseball players) and that's why the punishment wouldn't be as bad.
They were immediately removed from the team or they were held out from competition? I have heard absolutely zero that they are removed from the roster.
The only way that I see a football player not being on the team any longer is if it something illegal that justifies the punishment or if it is a 5th/6th year who does not have a covid year left following this year.
What's the difference? They were not participating with the team and were not there for games. I would call that being removed from the team.

The football players will still be allowed to practice, use the facilities, stay on scholarship, etc unless something nefarious occurred.
Keaton Anthony will likely be back with the Iowa baseball team next spring.

Those names were all previously mentioned in this thread and I had seen some similar statements elsewhere.
I don’t have any inside sources at all, I was just summarizing the thread up to that point..people might have deleted or edited previous posts.

You guys are dramatizing this way too much. 90% of the men I know age 21-40 are gambling on sports. If by "ringleader", you mean he was putting bets in on his account or influencing his teammates, sure. It's not really that dramatic though.
I agree that I don't love Dekkers' demeanor, but it's just sports gambling. It's widely accepted. Unfortunately it's against NCAA rules.
Like all of us, the staff is still unaware of the punishments for each player involved.
Obviously, the NCAA could be as harsh as they want to but if they hand out suspensions that are anything less than the full season - it's better to have these guys preparing to play/in shape for the season.
