Fred held onto the offer from Nebraska for several days before Steve's decision to stay, and Jamie was not going to stop Steve from taking the Alabama job either. Not sure why he got an extension out of it though

Maybe something changed at Alabama where Steve wasn’t offered?

In any case, if what you said is true if Pollard, I always kind of felt that way if Hoiberg wanted to come back. You don’t push someone out, but you don’t try and keep them either. With that said, Nebraska isn’t doing so hot , and I think I’d probably pass on him given the current results.

Is there any validity to Sam Hoiberg transferring and Fred leaving Nebraska? Or is this just a thread where someone lights a match and watch chaos ensue?

I'm voting match theory.

My stance on Fred is if he was 100% bought in and wasn't interested in any NBA jobs, he'd still be here and we would be dominant in CBB. He was the OG transfer guru, and I think he would've kept it going. He got that going at the right time, but I don't think he would've been able to restart it on a second stint.

I'm glad it worked out the way it did. Not sure Fred part 2 at ISU would have gone as well.

By my calculations, Sam should be graduating High School soon. Are we in on him yet?

I'm sure being the celebrity he was in Ames it got old being constantly recognized and talked to. I'm sure it wore on him. Nothing wrong with that. I would probably feel the same after awhile. Don't think it means he hated Ames.

Fred is great, he coaches at a no name school, and Fran still can’t beat him. I’m sure his son is a decent basketball player. If TJ’s interested, why not?

Bubu's accuser's Dad was a big donor to ISU and after the court concluded that the accuser fabricated evidence and cleared Bubu of any wrongdoing, Leath overruled Hoiberg and said Bubu can't come back to the team.
A kid that went through school with Bubu and the girl worked for me, and told me much the same thing... along with a few extra deets that are moot at this point.
Just one of the many many reasons I disliked Leath. I was glad to see him go.

It’s funny how all of this worked itself out. I think TJ has done better than a Hoiberg 2.0 stint could have done but I would 1,000% of hired Fred over TJ had Prohm left for Alabama.

No way to know how anything turns out but fun to think and talk about.

Idk. We had a roster that was really top loaded and not much after the older guys were gone. Don't forget Prohm came in and got maybe the best recruiting class in our schools history. About all he did though.

Do you care to expound on this? I understand if you can’t.
