It took Nebraska two weeks to fire Tim Miles after their last game. He said he knew was being fired for over a month. It was coincidentally announced the same day as Prohm's extension. Hoiberg was hired 4 days later. They didn't want to fire Miles until they knew they had Fred despite the rumors he was their guy.
TJ was also announced as UNLV's hire the day after Prohm's extension was announced. Both TJ and Fred were waiting to see what Prohm was going to do.
Lots of interesting "what if" stories there.
What if TJ gets the job in 2016. He'd be younger and have no experience as a head coach before that, but he'd be working with the loaded Hoiberg roster and the momentum of a tremendously successful era of Cyclone basketball instead of having to rebuild everything from scratch as he has.
What if Prohm leaves for Alabama...
Does Pollard forgive Fred for flirting with the Gophers and leaving for the Bulls? Does Fred want to come back and commit to being the coach at Iowa State in the long term and not wander back to the NBA?
Or does Pollard just go with TJ at that point?
So many interesting possibilities...
