You'd think this is a dig but this is actually my dream, if I stumbled across one of our shirts at a Goodwill I'd be ecstatic. Some of the best shirts are found thrifting.

To be completely honest, I am having a hard time drumming up too much excitement in my bones about this, either way.

It's a huge bummer that Dekkers threw away his career to bet on $10 on games where he probably wasn't even winning at a ridiculous clip. It's pretty wild that his parents seemingly encouraged him, or at the very least helped him get the account setup and access it while he was playing. It's just a series of really bad decisions from people that are a special combination of ignorant, arrogant, and/or delusional.

That being said, I don't think any of us were thrilled to watch another season of ISU football with Dekkers at the helm. He was a major part of the last-place Big 12 finish last season. Also, I am not personally sold on CMC. Whether you agree with me or not, you can't deny that it seem like we're staring down the barrel of back-to-back last-place Big 12 finishes in years seven and eight of Campbell's tenure unless a lot of guys really step up.

I guess I just hoped we'd be in a better spot right now. If you had told me after the Fiesta Bowl win that in just two years, ISU would likely be heading towards back-to-back seasons under five wins after a disappointing end to Purdy and Hall's careers (despite them both looking great and getting opportunities in the NFL) in the midst of a major scandal involving the starting QB, I would not be surprised because it's Iowa State, but I would certainly be devastated.

Holy **** dude. I cant tell if youre a troll, or just uneducated. Probably a hok fan, maybe all of the above. They had one of the worst offenses in ISU history, and in the entire NCAA last year. They were 14 points from being 7-5. Dekkers clearly wasnt the guy. 4-8 is what forced CMC to make all these positive changes, like a new OC, and OL coach. I get there is reason for pessimism, but I just dont see it. They had some kids make a mistake, Campbell has recruited well, and this team has depth. No reason to be concerned

If you dig and find evidence they were fixing game, or even doing anything that gives the appearance of fixing games, I'm all for it. I totally get the need to investigate and enforce those rules. If in doing so you turn up a kid who did nothing worse than signed up using a parent's account, I think you leave that alone. Law enforcement and prosecutors exercise charging discretion every day. By the looks of it, this would only be the Iowa kid at the moment who'd fit this criteria, but I'm wondering if there aren't more to come.

Dekkers committed a minor legal infraction. Players have came back and played after more serious crimes. Make Dekkers run some extra sprints after practice and let him play. I don't see the big deal about this at all. Nothing to see here.

Legally, sure. NCAA rules, he will never suit up again in the NCAA. I’d be shocked if he ever took another snap unless it’s in a flag football league somewhere.

Referring to the law? Yes. Public opinion? Gotta be both. Hunter clearly knew it was against the rules, otherwise he would have just had his own account.

Alot of laws don't make much sense but you still have to follow them.

I would too. It would restore some of my faith in him if he does. Hate to see guys go, especially those who have endearing stories or have been otherwise loyal to the program, but this should be zero tolerance.

What's so damned aggravating is that this is undoubtedly happening in all fifty states, yet only the state of Iowa is dropping the hammer and of course it's Iowa State that gets hit the hardest.

With Dekkers, did we get hit hard or let off the hook?

I think something is off with the number or he was placing bets for others.

Generally you have to win at a 55-60% clip to break even/win a little money in sports gambling because of the juice.

So, in order to have bet $45K he either would have needed to lose $45Kish or have won about $25K to have kept betting during the time period. Those are still really large amounts for one student, especially considering his background

All of the criticisms you shared lie just as much on the shoulders of CMC as they do anyone else. This is exactly the kind of thing that scares me a bit regarding the diehard CMC fans here. If anything positive happens, it was because CMC is excellent. If anything negative happens, it was someone else's fault. If you disagree, you must be a troll. Nothing I said was in any way unreasonable.

That’s bets wagered. Meaning he could have been taking his winnings and re-betting. It’s not that crazy.
