The thing that’s annoying is the headlines this is making with national guys and some even local guys.

Iowa state knew this was happening. They’ve all moved on. These guys haven’t been with the team since spring.

This is nothing new inside the program.

Maybe the actual details are new but again, these guys haven’t been with us.

I know that gambling is against the rules, and the kids knew or should have known the rules...

but honestly out of all of this, the most shocking thing to me was Lee (allegedly) betting on Texas to beat ISU.

Although it's massively stupid, I at least can somewhat understand a kid betting on themselves to win. I'm really disappointed that Lee not only gambled, but bet on ISU to lose...

At least we beat texas 31-7 that year.

On a positive note, we likely won’t have gambling issues in the future. Kids will know serious **** that will happen to them. The talks about NCAA violations and gambling now have some really good examples of violations and the consequences.

This season is a wash. The UNI game is going to be panic attack.

It is my understanding CMC has known about these guys for some time so the team has been preparing without them. I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

Normally we all start drinking heavily when the season starts and we get to the tailgate lots.

Transfer out or kicked the curb. Who cares? It’s been obvious that the gamblers were never coming back (with maybe 1 exception). There’s a reason they weren’t practicing.

I haven't been following this nearly 60 page thread before. I just read the story about Jirehl, and feel bad for him. Dumb thing to do - yep, but he graduated high school with my daughter so I know him. Really a nice, well mannered kid that was never arrogant despite his all-star high school status. It's just too bad...

What? I am pretty sure every player from every sport knows you aren't supposed to gamble. That's been reported ad nauseum. Did I miss something?

So what was the difference between 2021 and pre-legal gambling by app? Did the appeal, temptation and accessibility not increase 1000-fold?
