Blues comment about "altercations" has been the norm of this series since it began. The first game in Ames back in the 70's I saw some Hawkeye driving a gold VW bug down main street yelling his head off. Some ISU students caught him at a stop and turned the bug on its roof. Every single time I've been to Iowa City starting in 1978, I've seen fights, beer thrown on ISU fans, etc. Heck, the Hawk band manufactured a calamity the last time they were here. I have to admit that this game was the first where I didn't observe or hear any obnoxious fans at the tailgate (this time Haunted Forest) or in the stadium.

Correct, and also correct about this game. I had less negative interactions this game but his experience this game has been my experience going back every game for the last 15 years or so. Just some absolutely atrocious behavior by Iowa fans in the stadium around me that makes the game absolutely horrible.

Again, guys in the press don't have to deal with this stuff. They park in their spots and go straight to the box. It annoys the ever loving crap out of me when they complain about people getting mad about stuff on the internet when people like me say they hate this game. The traffic, incredibly boring games, super drunk a-holes on both sides have made this game just awful.

Young team, yes
Gambling set us back, yes
The same mistakes since 2016.. See I'm tired thread
Why are we young?
If we are so young, why did we only bring in 3 transfers?
Why were players gambling?
Who's in charge?
Is this 5 star culture?

Having a slight bias because you are associated with Iowa state is one thing. Getting on your knees for him is another.
Is that really necessary? You can disagree with what I think and say (I’m wrong all the time), but do you really need to take it to this level? We’re all on the same team here.

Probably not.

But people are frustrated, and rightfully so.

Campbell recruited the gamblers.

Campbell is the reason we are young.

Campbell is the reason we have a new OC.

Campbell is the reason our Oline is still subpar.

Campbell is the reason our play calling is dysfunctional and predictable.

Campbell is the reason we are still incapable of running hurry-up.

Campbell is the reason our offense is boring to watch and the atmosphere at Trice is deteriorating.

Campbell in public appears to bristle at any sort of valid questioning or criticism.

Campbell has let KF and Iowa own him, and it is showing up in the in-state recruiting. BIG TIME.

Campbell doesn't seem to understand or care about the Iowa game nearly as much as the fans, or as much as a huge in-state rivalry should demand.

I think all of these, but especially the last one, is why some fans are terribly upset. They have to tolerate the insane level of arrogance and obnoxiousness of Hawk fans and neighbors.

You can be frustrated without being an ass to someone who is actively trying to make all our programs better. Blum has contributed a hell of a lot more time and effort to making our AD better than most of us on this website combined.

Be frustrated. I totally get it. Appreciate everyone listening and always open to feedback. But the anonymous personal shots are a little over the top in my opinion.

I agree with Blum and Chris that people should probably just not listen to Campbell talk. He says nothing and you can predict what he's going to say. I've listened to a couple of press conferences in the past and will never do so again. It's a waste of time

The guys in the press have no idea what the average fan in the not high donor sections of the stadium put up with. After gross stuff in the grass lots four years ago, we purposely avoid tailgating, just park on campus. And when your seats are in parts of the stadium where the season tickets are not sold out, you have more Hawks around you than Cyclones and absolutely zero ushers or security.

For some, their parents were enabling them. Those players were idiots. They are gone. Matt Campbell is in charge. The players remaining are very committed. Younger players beating out older players is the main reason we are so young.

I swear I only see this guy on here when we lose, spouting doom and gloom like Campbell isn't the best coach in the history of ISU.,

Anyone think that maybe the reason why we have to play that way on offense is that we don't have enough playmakers? Just a thought, because we've seen this offense throw up lots of points before. Campbell always preaches players, formations, plays; we just don't have enough playmakers to sling it around the field.

Higgins is great, but all of our receivers have shown to have stones for hands. Iowa decided to put Cooper Dejean as a spy on Brahmer, our TE. That's what Iowa thinks about our skill position players.

It still comes down to line play for me. We've never been great on the OL under Campbell, but we've had a few that looked above average when we had generational talent in the backfield. Now that we've been without for a couple years, we're back to looking well below average.

It's too soon to reasonably expect Clanton to be making chicken salad at this point, but man do we need him to get us to a serviceable level quickly. It's the one position group that you can recruit essentially in-state/region and be successful.

Some fans apparently put way, way, way to much emphasis on this game as evidenced by all the chicken little's on this board.

I'm not sure I'd call the 2001 win at Ohio "convincing." That one was in very real danger of being an all-timer.

Up 31-14 after 3
blocked Yelk FG
Ohio TD (31-21, 11:56)
Seneca INT
Ohio TD (31-28, 5:25)

It took Ennis to salt away the last 5 minutes. 9 carries for 44 yds on the final possession, including a 6-yarder on 4th and 3.
