EVERYTHING like this is a choice in life. I go to concerts, plays, etc for more than just the people on the stage. May sound corny as hell but these type of events are some of the best "date nights" my wife and I ever get with having a family.
I get that and not trying to judge anyone for their decisions. But I've heard enough about the lack of financial security that these event prices are just continuing to add to the issues we have as a country. For those that save up to do this and can afford it that is awesome. But entertainment is something we all tend to overvalue. I know my wife thinks that about my ISU season tickets. :)

I think people may be "underselling" how much of a big deal Chris Stapleton is.
I know these tickets are not cheap, but he's also a mega star.

It's not Stapleton, its GS. All of his tickets have been priced outrageously for years. Uppers in arenas were 175+ the last 2-3 years. The addition of Stapleton just gives more "justification" for the outlandish pricing.

I know that it was 1 million to book Stapleton back in 2019 (probably more like 1.3-1.5 now). George, based on his pricing, is likely at least 3 million. If you think this sells out with somewhere in the neighborhood of 54k in attendance (I have no idea what concert capacity is there in its current config) they would need to charge 83 dollars a ticket to break even (on artist costs).

Once you factor in ticket sales, beer sales, and other revenues I think its safe to say Jamie is going to make a **** ton of money on this show.

I haven't been to a concert in many, many years so my estimation of how much tickets would cost is completely skewed. When the thread got posted I thought it'd be a cool experience, I'd probably pay $100 to get in the door just to say I was there even though I don't care about the acts that much. It looks like it's more like $230-250 after fees? That's too rich for my cheap blood even if I can obviously afford it.
I bet it would cost $100 to get into the ISF and see Stapleton without any other acts.

I hate birthday/Christmas gifts given to me from my family. We tend to treat ourselves to these type of events instead.

Now, saving up for Maui 2024 is different. I'm hoping we can swing that.

But then I'd have to go to the fair, no deal.
I think it was probably 70 something when I saw him at Wells in 2019.
I didn't see him last go around even though I wanted to because IIRC Marty Stuart was with him.

Tickets have increased dramatically for sure. Mrs. GT and I will be in attendance for this show and I will say we probably spent too much for tickets, but this is probably the last time for us to see GS, and as middle aged parents, we rarely treat ourselves to things like this.

I think what is telling here is in looking at the ticket map, most of the upper deck (lower priced seats from $165 to almost $400, are sold), and that is with the “presale” codes which is a bunch of nonsense IMHO. That tells you something.

As a point of perspective…… the last time GS played Trice in ‘99 (with an absolutely loaded group of artists), I want to say that tickets to an all day festival were $50-$100 for most seats. Times have changed…….

Wife and I went to Jordan Davis concert at Water Works, $50 a ticket and we snuck into the pit. I think $150 a ticket is my limit for any concert, would much rather take quantity over quality as there are a ton of great artists.

Unless you can bring back Freddie or Chester Bennington, then I'd make an exception.

Amazing how much events cost now. I figured it would be $100-$150 for good seats. But well over $1000 if you're on the field. I'm starting to think that my retirement target is WAY OFF! I'm resigned to know I'll never go to a Superbowl, but getting close to feeling like I won't be going to a regular season game or concert. And I'm 53 in the top 90th percentile of America. Am I just cheap or have people just lost their minds for entertainment?
For the SB it's just luck and timing. My dad has been a Chiefs season ticket holder for 20 years. Last year he only went to 1 game and sold the rest with the idea that it might go towards SB tickets. He already had a trip planned to Phoenix to visit some friends that week and what do you know the Chiefs made it. He dropped $8k on 2 tickets. Almost completely covered by selling the regular season tickets.

I love a good concert as much as the next person, but sounds like a ridiculous price to pay to see anyone. Throw in that George Strait is singing someone elses songs and has minimal energy on stage, and it seems even more ridiculous.

I paid less for three tickets, gas, dinner, drinks, all in to see Buddy Guy recently in a small venue....than one ticket to this show in a football stadium. No offense to GS, CS, and the other acts, but they might not have the talent Buddy Guy and his band has combined.....

Has anyone thought about what a cluster the parking lots might be for this show? They still need to tear up the west side lots and re-tear up C3 on the east side for resurfacing next spring and summer.

You paid less than $207 for 3 tickets, gas, dinner & drinks for your concert to a guy I've never heard of? AND you think he's got more talent than George f'ing Strait?

HA.

Look up Buddy Guy. And educate yourself. Rare you will find someone that influenced Jimi Hendrix. I know he has more talent than George Strait.

Yes, I paid less than $207 for a nice dinner, tickets, and gas.

George Strait is cool and all for a glorified karaoke singer.

When you die your best memz are going to be looking at your 401k account every other Friday. There’s a difference between “entertainment” and “experience”.

I have spent a lot of money on concerts and entertainment over the years....but the memory of not working until I die is also going to be a pretty good one....one that will keep occurring every morning after the day i retire early from the daily grind (going to keep some side businesses going after my regular career/job is done).

I understand your point though....balance in life, as well as saving for the future is smart.

Yeah that’s great, but we’re going to be old and worthless and a drain on society at that point or shortly after. I’ll just be masking my depression every day of my life once I hit 65.
