Anyway, I am definitely excited and over the moon with how things have gone since Ohio. I said on here after being very critical of the first three games that it sounded like Campbell recognized there was an issue and I wanted to clean the slate and start over with my thoughts on the season in light of that and boy oh boy has it been fun. Football is fun again!

Our Okie St and TCU wins don’t look bad today either.
On the flip side, former Valley High QB Rocky Lombardi and the Northern Illinois Huskies easily dispatched Ohio U today, picking off 3 passes in the process. Considering that’s the game which directly led to the present Civil War regarding Campbell’s coaching prowess, I’d call this day a draw.

I also vote to close this thread. We’re all Cyclone fans who care, or we wouldn’t be here. People are entitled to their opinions and nobody owes anybody an explanation or apology. I’m not a member of the anti-Campbell contingent, but I see the names of quite a few long-time active members I respect on that list of 190! Shut ‘er down mods!

Waiting for what?

You to get some self respect?

Nothing about this season has shown CMC respects ISU as an institution, our traditions, or the alumni and fanbase.

Only concession I've heard from Campbell is he admitted he was coaching not to "Screw the game up" instead of coaching to win the game.

Listening to his post game interview, he still comes across as a condescending ass that has no clue what it means to be a Cyclone fan.

Classic.

Lots of teams with norovirus would lose to lots of teams.

But let's let Northern Illinois ruin the day.

Definitely agree that you're not gonna be able to run your full playbook in Week One or Week Two, but Campbell did also say he had to adjust to how he was calling games w/r/t coaching to win vs. not to lose. It's true that it's unreasonable to expect the full playbook but it's also true that he coached too conservatively at points early on--even according to himself.

Where did CMC say he was playing not to lose? I know this has come up there was something but did he legit say he coached not to lose?

I am not going to look it up, but I did hear him say it. Want to say it might have been after Oklahoma State. Or maybe a midweek media session. I thought it was good accountability and a good reason for optimism. He also has since been quoted that complimentary football is how to win at ISU. So by nature he is a bit on the conservative side offensively. But I think he realized things had gone too far down that road.

That is not how football works at any level.

You can know a concept but doing it at game speed is completely different.

People really have lost their ******* minds.
My sons first grade flag football team ran more play action passes than we did week 1-3. Not even joking.

Our starting lineup on offense included 0 true Freshmen during those games. Trying to say that we didnt run any misdirection, counters, or play action because our team didnt have them implemented yet or couldn’t do them full speed yet by September would only prove more that the coaching is to blame.
