He had his career high points. Also note, against lesser competition VCU has shot 28% from 3 this year before yesterday. Against ISU, over 43%. I kept saying to my brother these guys have to be having their one freak shooting day of the year. Turns out they were.
They had a couple fluke 3 rolls, including the bank in and out. Dude missed that shot so badly. Had that shot been from the corner it would’ve went behind the glass and not even hit it.

How is it a bad loss?

They won their conference, made the tourney last year and I believe are picked to do similar this year.

They were far and away a step up ftom what ISU has played on top of just being a bad physical matchup with their length and athletic advantage.
They might be really good at their respective level, but so is Drake, and I would consider them to be a bad loss too.

Stop. It’s not a bad loss because it wasn’t a loss.

It’s nice being the better team and some team that thinks they’re going to upset you has it ripped away from them in the last 3 mins.
It’s almost as if good teams find ways to win when they don’t have their A game and the other team is playing well.

Yep. Milan's presence meant VCU couldn't help off him, and the coach's second half game plan basically used Lipsey and Gilbert attacking the paint off Big Rob's screens while Milan held a defender out of the play
Exactly. If anyone wonders why Lipsey and Gilbert seemingly get into the lane at will, this is a huge part of it. In my opinion, this is what has been missing the last couple of years.

VCU 27-7 , NCAA tourney last year, projected to finish 2nd in the A-10, 17th in ADJD last year....sounds like a Florida A&M type loss to me that would have ruined the season.

They actually reminded me alot of the Oklahoma State teams we've struggled with the last 2 years.

Rob Jones has improved his game enough I can see him playing professionally after this year.

Don't know about that.......what makes it so striking by comparison however is he is no longer forcing the issue. I don't think I have seen him try to back anyone down this year which was a monster problem last year.

Sets screens, boxes out, rebounds, and can physically push and shove with anyone. His offense has improved tremendously over the last couple years. How about a shout out to Kyle Green! I'm seeing a lot of improvement from year to year with our bigs. His hire isn't discussed enough.
Few posters here harshly criticize him every time he does a bad thing but he is a very important piece of our team. Can you imagine how the last game would had gone if we didn’t have BRE?

B. Jones sucks at shooting, but I love every other part of his game. Too bad he doesn't have a 40 inch vertical.. And I love his t-shirt.

I could easily see him going over seas. He's fundamentally sound and guys with his size and athleticism aren't all that common. When Rob's hitting his shots I can arguably say he's the best big on the floor some nights.

Hopefully as Milan and Omaha get more time, length won't be as much of a kryptonite.
I think they both need to learn how to operate with someone good working hard to defend them. They need to work just as hard to get themselves open or help their teammates. The whole team needs to work on getting good shots for guys that can make them. It looked like a Prohm offense in the first half.

He doesn’t suck at shooting, he just doesn’t have the range. He is a decent shooter. His career shooting percentage is 53.7% which is not great but not bad when you compare against other big men from the past (Homan has 44% career shooting percentage).

You can't replicate that kind of length and speed at practice so games are going to have to be the 'drill'.

I want to give a big shout out to BRE last night. Going to get lost in the guards stats but his touch was amazing last night and his energy level never went down during the game, guy was a machine.
Someone needs to get some nil action headed his way. Any jerseys or t's out there that might put something in his pocket? I'd wear his jersey to KC and the big12's proudly.

Dude. Homan took a lot of jump shots. Jones would throw the ball over the backboard if he shot a three. Jones 54% is all 2-4 feet away from the basket. He's decent at layups and bunnies. But he sucks at shooting. Doesn't mean he's a bad player. I love everything else he does.
