I tend to agree with you. We all know that Omaha is special…. he just needs to figure out the speed of the game and how he fits in. But the only way he’s going to figure it out is by playing IMO.

Especially with Ward out right now…. just play the hell out of Omaha and let him find himself…. it WILL happen! He of course needs to stay out of foul trouble though!

I think Pav is slowly figuring some things out by playing more minutes too…. so play Omaha dang it!!

Their big guy Kidd was so much more effective any time Rob wasn’t in the game. With Ward and Rob together I’m guessing he’d have been pretty well neutralized.

What people are saying is one game a season does not make. Even that run and gun team you cited that was fun to watch dropped an absolute turd, and not in November, but in March. It happens!
I said the players were fun to watch. I never said anything about that year’s team specifically. All of those guys played more than that one season. I’m again very confused as to why this is some sort of gotcha when the complaint is the offense isn’t dynamic enough

I'm not trying to gotcha you. I'm saying it wasn't always fun to watch, like when they lost to UAB in the tournament, or all the other times they lost.

His problems right now are is he's a step slow and has no idea what he is doing. There were at least 3 rebounds he should have had today that he didn't even jump for.

But I will say I don't like how we are using him. We are trying to force him to be an inside guy when I think (I'm no basketball expert) he should be used as a slashing wing.
We have guys who drive to the hoop, we lack inside guys, so I think that is why they are maybe force feeding him down low.

Also would like to see some pick and roll with him. But I don't think he set a lot of screens in high school, and thinking he might get hit with a few moving screen fouls. But if he could set screens like Rob and roll, to the hoop he could be a force

Thank you, this is basically what I’ve been trying to say. I agree he looks a touch slow, but he’s not going to get caught up just by watching the game on the sidelines. I thought Pav was great today and was easily the biggest highlight of the game for me.

Go back and watch those teams.

The ball stuck on the perimeter a lot, they were streaky and defense was an afterthought.

After A&M/DePaul/Iowa we have that other stretch of games that will be great for him.

People need to settle down, some guys show up ready to score and some need work. Pretty rare that any of them show up ready to play great defense, maybe by end of freshman year.
Hoping he could get some good minutes against DePaul. Iowa is not a physical team either so maybe some opportunity there

If he fouls a bunch he can't play anyway.

I agree: more time would help but he'll need to avoid fouling.

And what I’ve been saying (and what has been unintentionally proven via references to the 2015 team) is that problems you have early in the season don’t just disappear. They tend to cost you in major ways, especially in March. All of the “don’t panic!” stuff is missing why it’s being talked about at all.

I’ve seen some variation of this post like five times tonight. Figure what out? Figure out how to get off the bench? His problems right now start and end with our coach being the only coach in America that doesn’t want the highest ranked recruit in program history to actually play

We are going to totally waste our year with him. I’m very confident Omaha would shoot higher 3 point percentage than some of these guys firing away…

I think it is completely fair to be frustrated after tonight's loss. We blew that game, for sure. But I don't think some of the perspectives in here are accurate replayings of what actually occurred. Part of the reason tonight WAS so frustrating was we ran really good plays that got Tre King completely wide open rolling to the hoop and Tamin overcooked the pass multiple times in a 2 minute stretch. Part of the reason tonight WAS so frustrating was we actually got to the line more times than our opponents--and shot 30% worse at the stripe. We fouled three point shooters twice. This was a failed execution game. We had plenty of opportunities and we repeatedly missed them.

Yeah our steady guy had one of his worst games in terms of mistakes.

Gotta say I am not sure the guys who are kneejerk posters would actually enjoy watching freshman Omaha play extended minutes as much as they think they would.

It would be 'get him out and play another player that we'll pretend is amazing!'.

Incorrect on the year (it was the year after). Kane's team had no bad losses although they were *this* close a couple of times.
Ah. Thanks you are right it was the year after. That team did lose to a pretty bad West Virginia team by 25 but you are right most of those losses that year were on the road to pretty good teams.

I am officially concerned about him. He needs to be a contributor and right now he's not playing well at all. I do think he feels tons of pressure being the home town kid and always wanting to be a Cyclone but, it's time for him to get his head right (if that's the problem)

Hopefully if we get Ward back he plays more on the wing…but I’m not sure ”our year with him“ makes sense. He doesn’t look like he’d bee an all American in some other system, he just needs time and he already chose ISU over other great programs so I assume everyone will be patient.
