We allowed 80 pts against a1 win team. Might as well wear the black and gold.
That was an embarrassing effort defensively. They should have beaten that team by 40.

Why is it that other teams have no problem making free throws?

Perhaps the staff was really focused on getting some things opened up on offense this week and will synch up the defense as they move along.

Man I hope so. They had no answer for the high ball screen. We REALLY miss Hason Ward. He’s able to switch a little better and at least adds some shot blocking.

R. Jones also had foul trouble which may hsve effected things.

When this team is playing well they're pretty good but get pretty average quickly.

Hopefully that evens out too.

Defense left a bit to be desired but it seemed like they let off the gas the last part of the game. They were turning DePaul over like crazy to start the 2nd.

I hope for/expect a more intense effort against the hawks. We can’t let them get hot.

Not sure why I’m arguing with you because it doesn’t matter but saying that analytics based on this year’s team doesn’t matter is certainly a take.

You said the game would be really, really tough. Iowa isn’t that good. If we play like we did tonight, we win.
Not if we can't guard the 3 point area better. Iowa will absolutely feast on that. We all know they get little woodies when they face us...

Exactly. Gotta switch on them or they will burn you from 3.

An aside, I think Omaha needs to relax some. There are flashes when you can see why he was a 5 star. I don't know if he's pressing too much or what. The game will slow down for him. I have a feeling he's going to win us a game or two this season.
The Cy-Hawk bball game has a history of unexpected heros, for both sides, so maybe next Thursday will be Omaha's time.

Taking out the low majors we’ve played teams have been killing us from 3
Advanced analytics guys would tell you that 3 point defense is mostly luck. The way to measure how effective a team is at defending the 3 isn't 3 pt percentage, but just stopping teams from getting a 3 pt shot off. Seems like we put an emphasis on stopping shots in the paint at the expense of allowing some open 3s.
