Maybe someone brought this up, but why even rank FSU 4 there last week? It’s not like they lost their QB during the CCG, or even the week before the CCG. Pretty much no way they would get into the playoff and it makes the stupid committee look even dumber.
Because if Georgia wins their game, the committee is probably content to let FSU in. It only became a crisis when the SEC looked like they might be left out. And since they knew they couldn't justify putting Bama in and leaving Texas out, FSU got the shaft.

Again, the committee just wanted to pay homage to the first 4-team playoff in 2014 by repeating their reasoning in the final year of 2023:

2014: TCU crushes Iowa State in their final game; drops out of top 4

2023: FSU wins the ACC championship to go 13-0; drops out of top 4

Wait wait wait you were the one clamoring how Florida State struggled against a terrible Florida team, but that in-state, road rivalry doesn't count in finding a way to win? Iron Bowl is just different though. Gotcha.
A Florida team that only lost to Mizzou by 2 the week before, I'll note. They're not great, but the whole SEC isn't that great this year is the bigger point.

Yep it is. I’m not saying that’s right but that’s the perception. You have people making these decisions, perception matters. I’m not arguing with you saying FSU didn’t do everything they needed to get in, I’m simply explaining what was and what in fact did happen.

Remember in 2002 when we beat Florida State at Arrowhead when Seneca Wallace crossed the plane of the Goal line ?

The reason I am so pissed is being a former athlete, and would love to get our boy Curt's opinion on this too, is doing everything you are supposed to do, which is win, and you still don't get to play for a championship. I mean what the hell are we really doing? Sports is about one thing in the end when you are on the same level (Power 5 in this case, sorry Liberty). Did you win? And nobody has beaten FSU this year.

This will still be an arguement about 13 and 14. Not as much as now but their will still be ******** about the last few spots.
But all teams in the power leagues will know they control their own destiny. Win your league and you get a chance, which is what it should be.

Yep. Florida State was #4 last week and beat a Top 15 team and dropped a spot. Makes no sense.
Bingo. This will be spun by lawyers to legitimize leaving ACC. The tune will change to something like “being left behind” and terminating their membership with cause. IANAL, just spitballing.

My tinfoil hat: it wouldn’t shock me if we find out years later that ESPN planted this seed for it to play out like this. They have a sweetheart deal with ACC, but FSU is a big brand to add to their SEC portfolio.

There is no reason aside from they couldn't leave the SEC out. Plain and simple. The QB injury just gave them the BS excuse they needed. It's about money, ratings, power brokers (Sankey, ESPN, Fox) etc. Everything else is just cover up.

Here’s a fun hypothetical, if the last second pass in the Alabama/Auburn games goes incomplete then we would now be talking about how terrible it is that Georgia got in as the 4 seed over FSU after losing their conference championship games. The committee would have used the same best teams/eye test to get Georgia in.
I think you are exactly correct here.
