ISU players and coaches did not play smart football on that last drive…Settle for a field goal, give up a trick play, Surges just needs outside contain to end the half and completely whiffs. We gotta recruit another transfer corner. Ice the kicker never works. Just a lot of dumb plays.
I think are defense is just not that talented right now, but offensively we are and the staff failed them on multiple possessions to capitalize. I trust them to make adjustments and Scheelhasse has been very solid recently so hopefully has a better half.

Campbell just said they are playing a different defense than they we prepared for. Isn’t that great to hear

What...stacking the box to stop the run? Matt.........over the years you have told the world that establishing the run is how you want to play.

For me, its more about the comfort of playing on their own field and not so much about the fans. Their QB threw two perfect bombs for two TD’s. Maybe it didnt have anything to do with playing on their home field, but the comfort of doing so certainly didn’t hurt.
Two perfect bombs to two wide ass open receivers. Being that open makes it easy.

I suggest CMC consider finding a corner or two in the portal. And it isn’t just because of the two long balls today. Ours are too slow in recognizing that the receiver is in full stride and not going to make a cut.

You’re right that the defense is disengaged. But that’s exactly why the play works. If people want to ban running plays that the defense doesn’t expect, you’re going to have to completely redo how the entire game of football, or, at minimum, also ban pooch punts, fake punts, field goals, and spikes.

Not really. Just ban running a play other than a kneel down out of that formation.

The problem here too, is the referees can become disengaged on a formation like this, and may not be watching for what they should be watching for.

ISU plays 3 safeties. Those are the guys covering over top.
