Purdy isn't perfect and has a few physical limitations but good lord some of the throws he's made would be worshipped by these naysayers if Mahomes, Jackson, Allen threw them ect.

The media LOVES to point out how good his supporting cast is yet there was little mention of him losing a huge weapon in Deebo not to mention overcoming Kittle dropping an absolute gift of a pass.
From what I’ve seen, it’s not all media. There’s a firm divide (outside of moron Cam Newton and that weird Strahan take) between former players in the media and most everyone else. The people who respect Purdy largely fall in one of those two camps. I’d much rather, for multiple reasons, the people loving Purdy be the ones that have actually put their hand in the hot August dust. Once you see this contrast, that really tells you all you need to know and makes the whole thing a media driven nothingburger.

I understand the hesitant and wait and see folks on Purdy. He's still growing in the NFL and is going to have his moments. I DON'T understand the absolute disdain for him from some folks out there. I know its a loud minority and it puzzles me more than it upsets me. If Purdy is going to continue to shine, he needs to put the work in and I have no doubt he will. Not all of the San Francisco's ills come from a "green" QB. They still have a lot to work on as a whole.

Purdy has a so-so game in a pouring rain with a wet football, wet field, and windy conditions... yet still leads the game winning drive... and gets lambasted by the media for that? Really?

Jordan Love was playing better than any other QB in the NFL down the stretch, and he struggled mightily too in these conditions.

Green Bay's defense ranked 27th in DVOA. San Francisco's ranked 4th.

Kittle had a very unusual really bad drop too. Right in his hands.
Yeah, that was a huge drop during crunch time on the biggest stage of all. Seriously, he needs to thank BA for making an incredible catch on the very next play (a 3rd down play) which kept the winning touchdown drive alive.

DP was talking about Purdy and he talked about how we hadn't seen him in playoffs as he got hurt in nfc title game.

I was like what about the playoff games he played to get the title game and apparently a number of people sent messages in and he corrected himself a few minutes ago.

DP is one of the bigger supporters of Purdy in the media, so that sounds more like a misspeak than trying to disparage him using faulty logic.

So Purdy has only been successful against poor defenses? Is that what you're saying?

No, I'm saying you can't really compare struggling against the 49ers defense to struggling against the Packers defense.

It's one game, he didn't play well. He'll get another crack this week against a better defense but one with big weaknesses against the pass.

Yeah. He's a pretty big BP fan. Might have just misspoke I don't remember if the games were close last year in the playoffs? Maybe that's what he meant? i.e. playoff football = have to produce a major game winning drive.

The Seahawks game last year was close in the first half and a blowout in the second.

The cowboys game was close the whole time- BP didn’t have any turnovers but Dak did. Purdy was generally respected in the media for his performance.. didn’t play amazing, but managed the game and didn’t have a turnover.

Eagles game… well, we all know what happened there.

According to ESPN GB has the 5th best Pass Block Win Rate in the league. SF is 20th. It isn't just Love's mobility that has kept him clean for the last 8 quarters.

What does this have to do with Green Bay's defense being terrible? It's not like he was facing Micah Parsons yesterday, the Packers do not have a good pass rush, nor do they cover well, nor do they stop the run well.

The 49ers offense as a whole didn't play great. Fortunately for them, they were playing against a gettable defense and their own defense came up with some plays when they needed.

They are going to need more out of their passing game to beat the Lions and I think they'll get it. As long as McCaffrey, Deebo, Aiyuk, and Kittle are healthy for the superbowl I think they'll win the whole thing barring another flukey turnover disaster.

FWIW, the Lions secondary is very, very bad.

Lions ranked 30th in EPA allowed per opposing drop back

Oh I agree. The Lions rush defense is actually pretty good but they struggle to cover anyone over the middle of the field. Unless they get a bunch of turnovers or the 49ers defense gets gashed I don't see how they lose this game.

Lions will need to get pressure on Purdy.

Issue there, Purdy will just check it down in those situations.

Lions brought a few blitzes from corners that Mayfield didn't see.

What is a "System Quarterback"? Isn't a pocket passer a system quarterback?

Putting a pocket QB in the Ravens offense probably wouldn't work well, would it?

You were responding to a post comparing the performances of the two QBs. The defenses faced are part of the equation; so are the O-lines protecting the QBs against those defenses.

This is true, but I thought the Packers gameplanning was really good. SFs guys were pretty well covered while Packers WRs, TEs and Jones seemed to be running wide open all game long.

I think LaFleur can just flat out coach offense unlike anyone particularly in the pass game, Shanahan included. That Cowboys game looked like the varsity vs. JV in a 7 on 7 drill with how wide open guys were all day. I haven't seen anything like it, certainly not in the playoffs.
