They did sign the #1 player in the portal. Plus they signed a guard that would have really helped them, that could do what their current guards struggle with but he raped a girl and got kicked off. KU's a different team with Morris but he came with baggage, so that risk didn't pay off. All the players that left were not going to start and none of them are doing anything at the schools they went to.
1. Dickinson was one of the highest paid transfers in the portal. I'd take ISU's investment with whatever Jones, Gilbert, and Pav got. I think we got a lot more bang for our buck.
2. You are correct KU's outgoing transfers aren't doing much, but KU didn't bring in much to replace them. I guarantee Self would like to have TCU's starting center backing Dickinson instead of Braun.
3. Morris already had legal issues before the rape. Why did KU go after someone like that. Our transfers weren't criminals coming in.
4. 7 guys that weren't going to play at Kansas bolted. If you're not playing basketball why would you ever want to be in Lawrence?

1. Dickinson was 1 player, not their total investment and Dickinson was the 1 player that actually worked out.
2. KU actually brought in what they wanted to replace them but 2 didn't work out. TCU's starting center would be a nice backup but he wanted to start. That's the price teams are going to pay with the portal.
3. He had legal issues but nothing close to rape. They went after him because he's physically the exact guard that could make a difference on their team and they thought they could keep him out of trouble.
4. Guys aren't willing to sit on the bench in today's portal world. Most of those guys were told to look around but the 2 they wanted to stay left to start somewhere else. I guess I don't get the slam on Lawrence. Are you saying Ames is the city college students seek and Lawrence sucks?
KU hit on 1 transfer and missed on 2 and so this year ended up a net negative and the reason they aren't as explosive as they've been. I'm sure they will be in the transfer market next year and try to fix that.

Dickinson is one heck of a player, but I do believe his presence locks you into a certain play style on both ends.

Simply put, Kansas just need more depth. They remind me of hoibergs first team. Pretty solid group of starters, but could never get anything from #6, #7, and #8. Obviously this KU team is a lot stronger, but they get worn down over 40 min.

You are correct there. He does some very good things but he limits a lot of other things especially on the defensive side. I think Self should throw in some zone just because they aren't as athletic as they've been but they do have very good length. But Self hates zone so I don't think I'll ever see it. This team has quite a few losses left. The Big 12 is crazy competitive. I think you guys are the 2nd best team in this conference (Houston is my top choice) and so I really think we played good in Hilton. To make it that competitive with 1:00 minute to go with the way you guys were shooting I really feel was a positive for KU.

Hope so because you got 1 viable player in the last portal. KU has 0 depth. How many scholarship players does KU have? 10? Barely enough to run a practice squad. I went to school in Ames and have been to Lawrence plenty of times. Hwy 10 out of Olathe into nowhere. Lawrence and KU suck compared to Ames and ISU. On top of which you're dealing with Iowan's in Ames and Kansan's in Lawrence. Kstate was text book Kansan last week.

Work was crazy this weekend so late in getting the Rulzzz prediction winners. Lots of scores but these were the best of the best

3 points off margin of victory close to the actual score range
75-68 Good guys!!

This may have been Vegas line but you posted it and it was 1 off final margin
Vegas line is 74-69 Cyclones.

No OT but 2 off final margin and you had it in the 70's
I hope it's not this close but Cyclones 72, KU 70 OT. LETS GOOOO!

and 1st place goes to @CY9008 1 off final margin and 3 points combined away from each teams final point total
Good guys win it 77-74.

Going back to Dickinson's fit within KU's usual offense for a moment:

I admittedly don't watch KU that much unless they are playing us or some Big Monday-type game, but my impression of their typical offense under both Self and previously under Huck was an up-tempo, fast-paced game, hit the boards or inbound it quickly and beat you up the floor, basically just overwhelm with an endless fleet of fast bouncy athletes, most of whom can also shoot pretty well and space the floor if you manage to slow them down.

Dickinson's obviously a very skilled player, he'll be in the NPOTY conversation for sure, if you can get that kind of player you're kind of crazy if you say no thanks, but you can't play that type of offense with him, he's too slow. Combine that with Adams giving them absolutely no spacing on offense, and even among their starting lineup they are a little limited (by KU standards) offensively.

Obviously without Dickinson on the roster, a program like KU would have filled that spot with some other very solid transfer, but I was wondering recently if Self was kind of forced into adding him wether he wanted him or not. Just think how shallow that roster would be without him.

KU better hope he doesn't get sick or go down with an injury. They'd be bottom dwellers without him.

The commentator on the TTU@TCU game just made a good point. KU spends a lot of time and touches getting the ball to Dickinson, his numbers at KU have been good, but he put up good numbers at Michigan too and didn't win enough games to make the tourney.
