What's streaming that's good TV/movies

I just finished Masters of the Air and it has me on a WW2 kick. Any good war docs or reenactments you recommend? I tend to lean towards WW2 and Nam but open to others. I’m watching The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich on Hulu right now.

Not a reenactment, but I watched Hunting Hitler recently and it was quite good. I always believed that Shitler fled to South America and after watching that show I am 100% convinced.
It’s WW1 but They Shall Not Grow Old is a really good documentary.
Recently watched the French film "Attila Marcel" (free on Tubi). A talented pianist who witnessed his parents killed when he was two never again speaks a word again until connecting with a free-spirited woman who drugs him so that he can relive the fateful moment. Superb film. Truly.
Just watched Godzilla Minus One. I usually struggle with subtitles, but it didn’t get in the way at all of a good old fashioned monster flick.
Wife and I finished 3rd season of Hacks last night. Very funny with good writing. Jean Smart is great
Have been on a roll recently with good TV on MAX:
- Mare of Easttown. Detective show, great character develop. Didn't expect Kate Winslet in this role.
- True Detectives. Seasons 1-3. Haven't got to season 4 with Jodie Foster. Interesting the 3 seasons were made between 2014 & 2019. Season 1 gets most hype rightfully, but I was a big fan of season 3 and the structure of following characters in 1980, 1990 & 2015.
- Stop Making Sense. Talking Heads concert film from 1984. My music tastes in 1980's was a bit more mainstream (aka Bruce Springsteen). But Talking Heads were a big MTV band and their music got a lot of run on radio and bars. Awesome movie, the energy and joy of their performance comes through. So much so I watched it twice!!
Some suggestions:
Generation War, German mini-series about five friends paths through the war is worth a look see in my opinion.
If you like animation at all The Liberator isn't half bad. It's an interesting hybrid of CGI and live action that has a bit of a graphic novel look.
Netflix for Norwegian film Narvik which depicts the German invasion there in 1940.
The Bombardment, Dutch film, set in Copenhagen 1945. Also Netflix.
The Forgotten Battle, Dutch again, late war Netherlands. Netflix.
Any WWII movie buff should watch the 1985 Russian movie Come and See. It's way different than the usual Russian war movies in that it is more of an anti-war movie. VERY heavy stuff, not for light viewing.
Not necessarily a WW2 doc but the Cold War documentary on Netflix is fantastic and starts with the Manhattan Project. I believe it’s been mentioned in this thread already but it’s worth it.
Cool. Another Danish movie. Knew about the German soldiers tasked with this post-war mine removal but didn't know of this movie. Added to watch list.
Just watched in Blood & Gold, the German flick on Netflix. Been resisting watching but gave in tonight. It was not bad entertainment. A bit like a German made poor man's imitation of Tarantino. And only 1:40 long so not one of the movies you have to set aside 2.5 hours to watch.
Didn't even think of that. Luckily, it wasn't critical. About 20 minutes in, my wife actually started to ask me to turn it up before realizing it. Had a good laugh about that one.
Sugar certainly went a direction I wasnt expecting. Colin Farrell did a great job in it.
We just finished binging 8 Show on Netflix. Korean dubbed into English. Very dark, but good. A cross between Lord of the Flies and Squid Games.
