There seems to be about 2 million unaccounted for there.
Yeah, the concessioner tends to get the lion's share. At Minnesota, their concessions provider got at least half off the top.

I just cannot believe that hundreds of people that are currently buying tickets to Johnny's and the Sukup area would stop doing it just because they could purchase beer without being in one of those areas.
Like I and others have said, areas like the Sukup area offer a lot more than just the ability to purchase alcohol.
So keep it in house? Maybe you don't make as much the first year but it should be better than 25% profit. Especially with Ames Lager.Yeah, the concessioner tends to get the lion's share. At Minnesota, their concessions provider got at least half off the top.

Maybe a million a year after the first year’s loss.
Are they 65% of gross?Think the beer and equipment, insurance are free?
The only one dumbing posts is you sweetie.*gets shown the numbers for Iowa proving this to be the case, still dumbs this post*
Bold.
Are they 65% of gross?

Probably why I asked for numbers? Would Pollard turn down a $790k donation? It's worth the effort. FFS they were considering 20% to a foreign finance company. Can be, clearly you don’t have much knowledge on margins for alcohol and beer.
Maybe. Pollard is very good with money but is also very stubborn so hard to know what to believe. I will say I can’t think of any other college in our situation with Sukup and Johnnys though.Seems more likely they just dont want to and created the logic backward from there.
The odds that ISU is some special situation where it wouldnt make money on it but literally every other stadium in the country does is extremely small.
Numbers? Until then it's just the same excuses.
I've always thought A&W should have pivoted quick and listed it as a 2/6 lb burger - you get two and six is bigger than four!Kind of like the 1/3 pound burger at A&W or maybe Sonic was doing poorly because people thought that the 1/4 pounder was bigger.
This is so true and it's been like this since I graduated 16 years ago. I rarely go to the concessions now unless I just happen to hit it right because it's a cold game and there is no line. Going down at halftime and it taking 35 min to get a f**King popcorn is ridiculous. I'd love beer sales for the obvious reasons, but they'd whole heartedly find a way to screw that up too.The biggest problem with JTS concessions/possible beer sales is that JP wants to play it like it's still good 'ol Big 8 football and let everything be serviced by charities and offer food choices that are easy for them to handle. All the while complaining about not making enough money to keep up with the rest of college football. If you want to give one or two windows to charities, fine, but ISU really needs to stup up their concessions game.
The money they lose on slow lines, lack of options and over-all poor concession experience is mind boggling to me. Get some real options in there and have it run by people who know what they are doing or quit ******** about not being able to keep up with teh Big 10 and SEC.
I understand times are tough and it isn't easy in the new world of college football, but the one spot where they could start raking in extra cash is a pure train wreck on game day. And I mean train wreck. I have actually sat on the stairs in between quarters and watch people get pissed, belligerent and lose their **** while waiting in line for a walking taco. For ***** sake, if you have to give a couple of pounds of ground beef to a homeless shelter, so what, a walking taco shouldn't take more than 10 seconds to hand out.
Anyway, sorry, end rant. If JP wants to complain about how tough it is, then get your **** together on game day and take people's money. I guarantee you a huge amount of money is lost every football game just on the sheer ineptitude of every concession window.
Ya seriously what's the motivation for dumbing beer posts? Are they 65% of gross?

So a million a year isn't worth it?![]()
Beer sales at UMD athletic venues do not generate profit in first year
Beer sales during athletic events totaled about $950,000.dbknews.com
I mean a quick Google search shows the first year is either a loss or very minimal profit and profits of about 30% on gross sales after that. It’s pretty well documented.
Depends if that’s what we would profit and what we’d lose from Johnny’s and Sukup. My preference would be go for whatever makes the most financial sense but I’m not going to pretend to know what that is. I leave that up to the decision makers. So a million a year isn't worth it?
Makes them feel superior or something.Ya seriously what's the motivation for dumbing beer posts?
People would likely be less drunk if this occurred. As it is now every one is going out to get loaded at half time and it hits them right as they get back in their seats. Same amount of piss. Same amount of people leaving and coming back.I must be the only one that doesn't want beer sales. I hate having to stand up all the time for drunk people to get in and out of their seats and that would be worse if they sold beer. I hate having beer spilled on me and that would be worse. I hate waiting in line at the bathroom and that definitely would be worse.
I'm sure eventually we'll sell beer, but I'm not looking forward to it.
