Then basketball is coming where they get 50% of the top ten on their schedule compared to the cream puffs they're used to.

I've never met more arrogant fans, at least their online fans. I genuinely wished we'd have been happy with BYU for that market and just taken Colorado, ASU, Arizona and UConn to round out 16. I don't think Utah is going to be any bigger or better than BYU longterm in the same or similar conference.

Arizona wanted to jump all along, CU got happy with it quickly, ASU got dragged along. Utah should have gotten its wish to stay with Cal and Stanford or WSU/Ore St. Half their fans still think the MWC would be better than Big 12.
They’re not even bigger or better than BYU right now

As far as I’m concerned, they’re giving Baylor a pretty good run for their money. K-State is edging on strong dislike, though. I don’t really hate anyone else in the conference.

Baylor fans have never really annoyed me. I was just upset/outraged about how the institution itself was basically a rape ring that saw almost no institutional punishment. It was basically like the Penn State scandal except it was exposed in real time and it still go the same "nothing we can do to punish the institution" response.

Utah it's just pure arrogance among the fans, like they are just really bad people. It's like KU basketball fans...except they don't have KU basketball history, not even close. I mean if Utah had kind of invented football, been in our conference for a century, had a few national championships under its belt and made the CFP almost every year I'd get it. In reality, they are all quite insane.

For the last 10+ years Utah has enjoyed the recruiting advantage of being a Pac12 school when BYU was independent. The bowl tie-ins, opportunity for conference championship and meaningful late-season games gave them the ability to typically get many of the good local players who didn't have offers to Oregon, USC or SEC schools. Now that advantage is gone, and BYU has made significant strides in reversing that recruiting trend, making Utah less attractive to local players. This is already showing up in the fact that the Utah defense is not the dominant force of its 2 Pac12 conference championships.

Also, expectations at Utah were huge going into this season. Local Salt Lake City newspaper writers were guaranteeing a first round playoff bye. Now with 2 losses to the Arizona schools, even a trip to the conference championship is unlikely. Whittingham is older and the fan base is not happy. Ute Twitter was viscous after the loss on Friday. If Utah drops another game (BYU/Colorado/ISU the most likely) there will be no conference championship and no playoffs. How much longer Whittingham stays is an open question and the uncertainty that this brings will also bring its own challenges.

Here's hoping for the continued downward direction of Utah athletics, although I'm not sure its basketball team can get any worse.

You hate (love) to see a recently proud team and fanbase (conceited as hell) regress so quickly starting their first year in conference (an unwilling member).

We can only hope to see them regroup (keep losing, losers) and to run the table on their remaining games (lose them all), assuming their rightful role as conference kingpin (bottom half, here we come), on the way to the CFPs (nope, not bowl eligible, sad).

I'm almost shedding a tear (of joy)!
They'll have to play better but looking at their schedule, things set up nicely for Utah. They have road games at UCF, Colorado and Houston and have ISU, BYU and TCU at home. They have two really tough home games BUT they also get the top two teams in the league at home, that's not a bad thing when you're two games back. They need some help but they'll likely be favored in 4/6 remaining games and they don't lose often at home.
See above.

I think we may lose to Utah on the road this year, but I think Utah will finish 4th or 5th,

I think this is between BYU, ISU and K-state with 5 other teams not far behind.

Baylor and Pedo St fans were pretty outraged about Briles and Paterno getting canned for sweeping **** under the rug.
