The Cardinal on the standard white home jerseys is the same as the football jerseys. Yes, exactly the same.

Nike’s shade of Cardinal has not changed. It’s been the same since we’ve entered into the ‘Elite’ contract level or whatever it was called many years ago. Same shade of Cardinal in all of our recent football uniforms (standard/non-throwback) and basketball, home and away, etc.

Lighting, sweat, indoor/outdoor, on TV vs. in-person, etc. - all play major factors in determining how our eyes interpret different shades of similar colors. Also a key factor are tertiary colors - for example - the white numbers on the football uniforms this year compared to yellow last year tricks our brains. The logos pop different on a light background vs. a dark one. Add all this up and sprinkle in a hefty dose of confirmation bias (“my brother and I were talking at the game last week, I swear the Cardinal looks way darker this year!”) - and you get a bunch of dialog about it! Hell, I was convinced months ago that Nike had jacked up our Cardinal and made it generic red and it turns out - they didn’t.

These new throwbacks for basketball - the red is purposefully a lighter shade, to match the era. I’m sure it’ll “darken” a bit once the players get sweaty though! :D

Haha, don't know, they might be. I think you might be kidding, based on your post. I haven't seen all the pics to compare, and you can't trust pics anyway.

If they are a lighter cardinal, that's fine. If they are the same shade as our current cardinal, that would be finer / better, IMO. Cool either way. :)

It was confirmed on Twitter these are the permanent home whites.

Edit: Technically what I read was "they'll be part of the regular rotation" which I read as these are our permanent white jerseys, but I guess it doesn't explicitly state that.
I did not read “in the rotation” as “permanent home whites” myself.

Testifying
I ******* love the sport-specific Cy logos. Back when I was a kid (sigh), my grandma had a Cy keychain that was the Cy basketball mascot (as full character, not an image on something). The basketball logo especially has always been my favorite ISU logo. Definitely going to pull strings to get a pair (not to wear, just for my collection).
Here's mine that's decades old from Bensons.

The throwbacks do include a lighter shade of Cardinal. Early 90’s used a much brighter shade generally and there was very little purposeful consistency across sports, with different vendors/manufacturers/brands/etc. Unfortunately for fans, this inconsistency persisted for a very long time!

I think he really wants to go back to Redskins but he knows he can't get away with it.

I kinda dig Warthogs....

This kind of Warthog? :)

The Chargers are themed to electricity.

There’s a legend that the Chargers name was originally linked to … credit cards. The original owner, Barron Hilton, had created the Carte Blanche credit card, and some say he came up with “Chargers” as a way to promote his card.

Seems like a stretch, given the lightning bolts, but, you know …

I think this conversation should be elsewhere... but just my two cents I think the name should be the Washington World Police.

Or actually something like the Washington Union would be neat. It's both a reference to the politics of DC and country but also it's a name that European soccer teams use so it sorta works there too.

My wife is a UCF grad (not much of a sports fan, though).

I told her we were doing the "blackout" thing on Saturday night.

She didn't get it.

"Why do that against a black team like UCF?"
Matt Campbell LOVES the color black. It's why he never wears anything other than that.
