Hawkeye fans have to walk 5 miles to get to the convoluted pods for football Saturdays amongst the greater Iowa City/Coralville area. Probably sobers you up by the time you get to your destination.
I thought they just parked in the Childrens' hospital parking garage.

Did see after a TD students threw water bottles in the air.
I saw in videos of Mr. Brightside playing there was water being sprayed around, looked awesome, and the students were being students. I obviously don't know anything else I'm sure there are some idiots. If it's just water then this is kinda lame.
I have to think putting the rowdy students next to the high dollar Sukup endzone and surrounded on all sides by the regular population led to this...this isn't new behavior. Not exactly setting them up for success, they aren't children but they're still a student section at a college football game, let's be realistic and not kill their enthusiasm.
Anything actually dangerous should be addressed of course.

yeah, saw someone talking on reddit about people getting hit with water bottles that were raining down.

Spray water if you want, don't throw bottles kids.

We sit right next to the student section and the empty fireball shooters have rained down all season.

This weekend there was a LOT of uncapped water bottles and I’m sure some people got soaked.

That said, you sit by the students you have to expect a little chicanery and I don’t want anything to happen that could impact student enjoyment. I knew people would complain but I never actually saw a full, capped bottle flying.

Sounds lit. Cant wait to join you hooligans for homecoming!!!

But for real take it easy on banning sneaking shooters in. I fully plan on reliving some of the good old days by bringing a couple beverages with me for the game. Got make it through the commercial breaks somehow!

I’d bet they could stop it. Aim a camera at the student section and document instances of people with shooters. Send pictures of offending students to faculty to identify. Revoke their tickets. Hell, facial recognition these days probably cuts out the need for turning students in. They have a database of all the students’ pictures. Shouldn’t be that hard.
Wow.

I am only one witness, but I have seen no issues except for the projectiles following Rocco game winning TD.

I don’t go to tailgates to babysit adults. If fans are fighting they should be dealt with by police. That’s their job.

Regarding the student section, they were throwing empty fireball nips all game. By the 4th Q it was water bottles. Some landed hard at the feet of security near the field. It was disappointing but probably preventable with a coordinated effort by security.

In the words of the late, great Minnesota Twins public address announcer Bob Casey "you are not allowed to throw anything or anybody onto the field."

I can’t be the only one that saw things (maybe beer cans) being thrown from the low rows of the west side like sections 3-5 too right? Some of them made it to the upper deck but most made it just to the top of the lower bowl.

I was sitting in the upper deck and in the 3rd qtr looked down and saw 2 state troopers and 3 cops in the section below. Never saw what happened but at least one person left. His shirt said "f*** around and find out" so I'm sure he was a very respectful fan
Happened a few rows in front of us. He was drunk from the start. Fell down the aisle about 3 rows right on top of a girl spilling nachos everywhere then tried to fight some other guys later when they made a comment about it. It all happened right in front of Rocco’s Dad. I’m sure he was impressed. Troopers took the guy away so I guess he found out.

I won’t tolerate any slander of The Killers (well, ok, maybe a little), but how on earth does a 20 year old song like that suddenly take hold? It seems about as unlikely as a Juicy Wiggle renaissance.
I think it was on the charts 8 to 10 years.
