I still despise them and Marist.

Despise them? These were loses but were hardly like a #2 losing to a #15 or something. Of the two losing in Ames in 2012 was worst of the two.

In 2011, a year home teams did not host, we lost the opening round as a #7 seed to #10 Marist. Road game outside their regions for both teams in NC.

In 2012, another year in which the top seeds did not host, we got gifted a home game with Hilton being selected by the NCAA to host the first two games. And we lost as #10 to #7 Green By. GB was miffed as a better seed and having to play regionally on our home court. They had a point. And they made their point.

NCAA used "neutral" sites for 11 years. I put "neutral" in quotations because they still had all sorts of teams playing on their home courts. If you are to go truly neutral you need to send the home team off to another site if their court had been preselected to host and they did not.

It was never "neutral." It was "predetermined."

Was watching a bit of the Big 12 media thingie and interview with BYU coach before I take off this afternoon. Looked at their roster and they talked about players but no mention of Kailey Woolston. She lead the Big 12 last year with 47% shooting from three. She's not on the roster and after looking I found she is doing an 18-month "mission" in Baltimore. Not something @mred has to factor in for us in his roster spreadsheets!

Four starters set - Ryan, Crooks, Brown and Jackson, fifth spot is between Joens and Hare, although Hare is dealing with a hip injury that happened at Marquette, and in on a "pitch count" per CBF.
Sounds like it may be possible no transfers crack the starting lineup. That is not what most of us expected.

Can't read the Rag article. Was there any mention of Harris? Sort of high on her as she's the only transfer in that has played Big 12, albeit a shortened season because of an ankle injury.

No mention of Harris. The only other player mentioned was Lilly Taulelei, and she won't be ready to go for a while because of her ankle, which we already knew.

From the article:

Iowa State women’s basketball coach Bill Fennelly asks his staff to answer a question at every meeting. Fennelly already knows four of his starters for the upcoming season, so he asks everyone to write down on a piece of paper who the fifth should be.

I get six different names,” Fennelly said during Big 12 Conference media day at the T-Mobile Center on Tuesday
.

It sounds like, depending on the day of the week, the last spot is really up for grabs.

This summer, I would have guessed Hare would start at the two, Brown at the three, and then the 4 spot would be hotly contested. Based on CBF’s comments, we may go small with Brown at the 4. It is going to be interesting to see the rotations when games start. Lots of options.

Not sure I’ve ever been as excited for a season as I am this one.

It’s weird how little we’ve heard on transfers - I assumed a couple would take on big roles. I’m pretty high on Hansford after watching some film.

Like Proverbs says, "Iron sharpens iron." I hear Kelsey Joens is confident and playing at a high level - I'm hoping she wins the final starting role because she's a great kid and ALWAYS smiling - she might give Audi a run for her money in the positive attitude department!

She is always hustling her butt off. If her scoring consistency improves…look out

Day 6 (5+1=6) The Legend and probably my favorite player to watch in Megan "Freaking" Taylor I wish I could find a clip of her 40 foot game winner against Texas, but a good second was her GW in Norman down below.

Mighty Megan was one of my all time favs as well. I remember the UT 3 play and I also remember her scoring on a turnaround underneath the basket for a win. She was relentless on the court. That team that beat OU, to date, was the best ISU team ever.
