Ok 25 yards is a bit much but it was definitely at least 8-10. And it was clear as day he was grounding the ball.
It’s not mutually exclusive that the calls weren’t great especially on key plays and we also had our worst game plan and execution of the year.
Tired of people with broken brains thinking it can’t be both after any bad loss when it often (not always) is both.
In this one I’d say our own mistakes like not punching it in from the 1 were greater than officiating mistakes, but we probably win without one or two of the bad calls even with the poor plan and execution.
Maybe I’m blind but I couldn’t even see hands to the face on our big interception play, I saw their offensive lineman with hands up by face mask grabbing him by the collar though.
We did have one key play where I think Cooper had the tight end wrapped around the waist before he batted the ball and thought that was one we got away with.

There was hands to the face, but it was mutual as the online had his hands on doing face too.
Both bad calls. Neither should have mattered. Looking forward to getting back on track next week.

If you want to talk refs, the offensive pi that took a touchdown off the board for them was kind of weak. This stuff evens out over the game. As poorly as we executed I just can’t place any blame on officiating.
Also on the intentionally grounding no call watching it live in the stadium I had no issue with it. Tech had a receiver in the corner of the endzone who looked relatively close.

Bad calls are going to happen. ISU let's them affect the game more than they could / should. Not playing from behind or being up by double digits helps this.
We lost this game because of the offensive game plan. Texas tech was DEAD LAST in the country in pass defense and our offensive game plan was to run run run. This was absolutely inexcusable to start with and even worse to not change when it didn't work. Time after time after time we would run on first down and put ourselves in 2nd and long. When we did pass on first down it worked. When we did pass the routes were too long. Absolutely horrible gameplan and adjustments by the offense tonight.
Was Sama not in on his nice run? In stadium looked like hit pylon.

The officials never gave an explanation. I don't know the exact rules but I assume he was called short becuase he hit the pylon with his foot but the ball wasn't over yet?
Another thing that gets overlooked, on the 2nd to last play it looked like Verdon had a chance to intercept that pass in the end zone if he wanted to, but he just batted it down instead.
Yes his foot hit the pylon and the ball wasn't across. However it should have been down at like the half yard line and if I remember right it was at like the 1 yard line
I believe the rule is the pylon is considered out of bounds. When Sama’s foot touched the pylon, it’s the same as his foot hit the out of bounds boundary. They then look to see where the ball was located at that moment. The ball was in his left arm, and the ball clearly did not break the goal line plane.
I think it was the correct call by the officials. Regardless, it was 1st and goal inside the 1 yard line. It is expected to score a TD on that sequence. ISU didn’t, and that’s one of the many self inflected reasons why they lost last night
Verdon has a cast on one hand. Catching the ball there would have been a miracle in physics.

Disagree 100% on hands to the face. Absolutely the right call. Sure, OL had his hands up too but in the history of football, I feel like 95% of the time, or even higher, that gets called on the defense. For a defensive linemen that's the same thing as blocking in the back on a punt return or kick return. You're taught since middle school not to do it cause it'll get called the vast majority of the time, regardless of what the OL does.
Is that fair? Nope. But its literally the ref throwing a flag everyone knows is coming when it happens and they see it So on that one, its hard to say its a bad call
That false start may have been positive, the snap was fumbled and I don’t know if it was or who recovered it.
