people are gonna freak out when BYU coughs up a game and gets tossed out of the top 12. So the big 12 will have nobody in the top 12 that end up with a four seed.

Which is why I think you’ll see an overhaul of how the top four teams work in the next couple years

Why would an Ohio state team who lost to Oregon, be ahead of Oregon, who has zero losses? You might be worse than the actual committee.
Mostly because i forgot oregon beat them lol.

Again, these werent my ranks, they were my guess at the committee.

If anything i was a skoosh too cynical. Shocking.

Not just using the eye test, but citing it as a good thing for Miami is ******* wild.

These people aren't even trying to hide the way they're rigging it.
Is there another major sport in the world where the results on the field do not matter? I can’t think of one.

If they crush Army they lose that top 25 win. Crushing Navy didn’t help them. And I’m very confident a win over USC will not be painted as a good win. And with this new QB the Tojans could win that game.
The committee has made it crystal clear that you can't look at this logically. If ND wins out they're getting in and the committee would LOVE to get a home game in South Bend. They'll use whatever reasoning they need to use to get what they want.

Then why have BYU rated ahead of them now? Why not just put ND at 9 and BYU at 10.

And yes, I think the committee is corrupt as ****. But there are degrees of corruption.

Edit: and if you want to get real tinfoil hat with it. I could see the B10 committee members pushing to leave ND out and punish them for not joining a conference.

If BYU wins out they're the 4 seed and I'm not matter what so it won't matter.

This only matters if BYU drops a game (even the CCG), and that's where ND jumps them. That's how the Big XII won't get 2 teams in.

We’ll see. There’s precedent where they haven’t punished a team for losing their CCG in favor of a team that didn’t play in a CCG with TCU in 2022. So I’ll lean on that.

Last year the committee was atrocious though, so I agree, your scenario is a possibility. I just don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion

There is no precedent for any of this. It's a whole new ball game. Looking at the 4 team playoff isn't helpful.

Besides, if USC won in 2022 then TCU would have been left out, I guarantee it.

First week and we already using the “eye test”

Can’t believe they are making me defend the Big Ten in any way, but if you want to talk eye test then Indiana should be where Miami is. They have absolutely annihilated everyone, schedule be damned.

Also, I think he meant to say “name on the jersey” but covered it with “eye test”

No. That’s factually wrong. TCU was the third seed and OSU was 4th. USC would have bumped OSU, not TCU.

It’s still a committee choosing teams. They’re choosing 12 instead of 4, but the fundamentals are the same.

Ohio State was the 4 to avoid a 1st round rematch with Michigan. If USC had won then OSU still would've been the 4 and USC would've leap frogged them by beating Utah.

Why would they have given Georgia a harder game to avoid a first-round matchup. Do you have quotes from committee members saying that?

Just tuning in, what did I miss? Committee surely didn't reward good losses more than good wins did they? I'd be shocked i say, truly shocked!

That would mean that the committee would have Boise as the 4th conference champion. Their SOS will be worse than a one loss BYU team. Boise will get credit for the close loss to Oregon, not sure how much bump they are going to get from beating WSU. Less than beating an undefeated SMU team.

No, there aren't quite from the committee, but why on Earth would you trust anything they say?

And it's not about being fair. It never has been. UGA vs OSU drew more than 22 million viewers (5 million more than The Game) and that's why they did it.

It's an entertainment product designed to maximize viewership. And that's all the CFP has ever been.
