Just what I thought the comments would be today. I wonder how many of the experts on here who have called our players non athletes would say that to the players face. We have areas to work on for sure as someone who played the game and coached young players some times no matter how good/better you are you get beat. A player can go off like McDermott did last night when 66% of your shots go in and 4 players shoot 48% from the three line. See what went wrong and come back Sunday and take care of business. Go Cyclones I will still be there cheering for you!

Iowa State's defense lost the game - couldn't get stops and couldn't force turnovers. The lack of bench production was surprising, I wonder if we'll be running an 8-woman rotation by conference season.
I expect that the team will get it turned around, and this will just end up being a blip on the season.

Yep. If you lose only when a team drops 48% from 3, and a player has a night like Mcdermott... you'll be a in a pretty damn good spot!
They ran a small lineup on us all night and he still Kept Crooks on the floor. That's a freakin rookie coach mistake.
Emily Ryan is averaging 12.5 assists per 40 minutes and has a 4.7 assist to turnover ratio, and some fans would like to see her benched.
Maybe not benched but point out to her what she is doing wrong like Bill does with the other players
I've been a long time WBB fan and supporter and will continue to be. However, last night, in my amateur evaluation, we we out defensed, out offensed, out quickened, and out coached!
Anyone that has watched the team this year knows that’s not true. Ball movement has been outstanding until yesterday.
I mean sure, but this was the first real test and it was a failure. I’m sure most teams have good ball movement against Chicag State.
I had to listen to parts of the game on the radio last night so my thoughts are from what I heard on the call and the box score. UNI was obviously hot shooting it but statistically Audi and Addy had 20/10 double doubles and shot a combined 16-26 while Ryan also shot 50% with 13 points 6 assists and Hare had 14. The rest of the team combined for just 5 points on 2-12 shooting. You aren't going to win games when your bench gives you nothing. The 3 best players on the roster did their part.

We face MTSU who is 4-1 but should be able to handle then have to go to Iowa City to face the Hawks that are 5-0 and just beat a Big 12 team last night.

The apparent succession plan for many years of Joens dribbling around with her head down and hoping for something.
Tanya Warren is a really good coach. She created mismatches that favored her team and we did nothing to negate those mismatches. McDermott is a good player, but come on now. No way we can let her run off multiple screens all night and light us up for 37 points.
People talk about us looking slow. The reason we looked slow is because Warren created situations where UNI players had the advantage. Specifically McDermott’s quickness. No one was talking about the size of Iowa State being too much for an undersized UNI team. Drake will try to create the same mismatches through motion and screens, we will see if we have a plan or if we just do what we do.

I like the idea of playing the games for the in state comraderie. Bummer when the Clones lose, but in most years they seem to get the W's.

12 shot attempts form the rest of the team kind of tells you everything yo need to know though... our offensive strategy is forcing the ball in to a triple teamed Crooks or Ryan dribbling it around. Addy isn't getting enough touches IMO. She seems to make the best decisions out of the big three.

The losses Iowa State has to those teams is pretty sad especially since those fall in the Joens and Carleton eras too.
