I was listening to him during FP3 last night and he made it sound like we should know something in a couple weeks. I would think though if you're bringing in Cadillac you announce it in Vegas and not wait until the end of the season.
I am sure they would like to but something is holding it up. Most of the grid isn’t hip on the idea so I am sure they aren’t making it easy.

If Red Bull keeps Checo my guess is Checo brings in way more than the difference in prize money between 1st and wherever Red Bull finishes, and they get more wind tunnel time. They're not just going to keep him around because they think he's a nice guy.
I think they keep him around because it is what Max wants.

That was a pretty good race. Felt bad for Gasley. George was so fast. Kind of strange. Max actually listened to his guy and didn’t over push the car.

Does Herta have enough points for his super license? I'm pretty sure he would have been in the Alpha Tauri car last year if he did.
He doesn’t, but there should be ways to get him the points he needs if they really wanted him in that seat.

As of the end of the Indycar season, he has 31 points on his license. He needs 9 more to be eligible in 2025. Since they're not coming until 26, i would imagine he would be able to get those.

They could go after Franco Calipinto.
I think Herta will be one of them. He's Gainbridge/Towriss' guy, who is essentially running the Cadillac F1 Team. It's all speculation at this point, but a name I've heard for #2 is Bottas and their reasoning is that you'll need an expreienced driver to help work out a lot of the kinks a brand new team with a brand new car are going to have to work through. None of this is from the team though, strictly people who talk about F1 and what would help make a team more successful.

Last time around there was some talk of sending him to Japan to run in Super Formula to get the points he needed. Maybe that's what they'll do this time around to get it done. All I know is if throwing money at it could get this waived he'd be in the seat Liam Lawson has right now.

Checo? he brings in a LOT of money which is why i think he's still with Red Bull.

Checo will be retired by the time Cadillac is on the grid.

I mean he'll be replaced after this season, that HAS to happen. And... quite frankly, Checo needs to get out of RB, just never worked with him, especially when having to race against Max when the car is set up for Max, and only Max. Albon was on a pod last year maybe, and he even said, it's harder to drive that car later in the season due to how pointy Max wants it.

I could see him taking a year off, then coming back, just a recharge, and reset for him. He's just taking a beating from the media.

All speculation, but I wouldn't mind seeing Franco in that second seat, but is Cadillac willing to wait on a young driver? what's their finances like too... Franco has been... expensive.

Yeah but he also has a whole country behind him and buy his merch. Same thing Checo has going for him. Lots of sponsors money from his country

They can want an American driver but they need to get one with a super license. Right now there are only 3 American drivers that currently qualify for one. Logan Sargent, obviously but the only other two are Josef Newgarden and Ricky Taylor. Alexander Rossi could get one, just needs to complete a 300km test program to requalify since he's previously raced in F1.

I'm reading some conflicting reports on Herta in regards to if he has enough points or not. These two articles were both released on the same day. One, quoting Herta himself says he does and another one says he's 1 point short.

Assuming he's not eligible, and the more I read into it I don't think he is, he will need to finish 4th or better this year in the Indycar standings to secure a super license. Indycar not being an FIA sanctioned series gets pretty terrible points payout compared to F2. If you finish the season in the top 3 for F2 you automatically qualify for a super license, but for Indycar you qualify by winning the series title.

Interesting that when they list the weekend attendance at Qatar they don’t give a number, just ‘sold out’.
