They may say it, would that surprise you

ISU should be good but will have some limitations and it may be a bumpier season than what a few have in their minds.

I'm guessing by mid-December there's some passive extreme takes.

After sleeping on it, I have to say its still a gut punch to lose, but this team deserves its ranking, which I was slightly worried about. I sort of figured Auburn would slowly put us away.

If this team can bottle up that first half.....watch out.

I hope this was Jefferson's worst game of his career.
I think Jefferson will be fine. He was going up against a player that should be in the NBA right now. Jefferson will likely not face a better player all year (maybe Dickinson).

For seeding purposes in March - having that Auburn win in the back pocket would have taken away some of the pressure for the Uconn (presumably) and Marquette games. Absolutey HAVE to win one of those two. Cannot go 0-3 in your big non-con games and expect better than a 3 seed
Iowa State was a 2 seed last year with no good non con wins and losses to a 9 seed in the tournament and an NIT team.

I'm watching the replay and I came away with the same impression. They've elevated their potential and the new additions are making the impact we hoped they would. Deserving of a high rank.

Not many teams are deep enough to battle us for a full 40, but Auburn is one of the teams that is.

The first half showed everyone just how much talent this team has, they were hitting on all cylinders, and that was with Gilbert on the bench for a good portion of the half with 2 fouls.
You cannot freak out over a loss to the #4 team in the country by 2 points, no matter we had a big lead, Pearl has a quality BB team, they are as athletic as any team we will face because they have a couple of bigs that are a poor matchup problem for teams. Outside of Kansas I am not sure we will see as good as bigs as what they have in the conference.

Live and learn and lets go out and play with passion tonight against Dayton.

I'm not worried about our bigs or our role players at all - they will all be very good.

To me, if this team really wants to be a final four team, our star players have to play like it. Need much better from Tamin, Milan, Curtis and Keshon (who was awesome against Auburn). Can't have only 1 of those 4 play well to beat big time teams in big time games.

Rewind the clock to our last big game vs IL in the dance. Tamin was lousy, Keshon was terrible 1H better 2H, curtis was great, and Milan was non-existent.

Are there 2 more hateable coaches in college basketball than Pearl and Hurley? I'm sure there might be a few, but man I can't stand either one of those asshats.
Nope. I'd take an insurance seminar with Fran vs even watching Pearl or Hurley. Just awful.

They got red hot from 3. The Baker-something kid came back from his 'injury' and started playing amazing. Once their guards were actually able to do something it was tough for us. Coming out of the second half completely flat footed and letting them get back in the game in 2 minutes wasn't great and was what lost the game. We played even with them the rest of the way

I noticed when they showed Pearl before the game on the dry erase board in the locker room it said "treat #22 like a gaurd"

It has to be hard to defend someone 4 to 5 feet behind the arc isn't it? That is what I saw, and I never played a minute of basketball. You are correct in the red hot from three.

Final thoughts after watching the replay

1. 5 more minutes with Gilbert and we get the W
2. Dishon is the center we needed
3. So nice having a center that can make free throws
4. Lipsey was hurting, but it only showed on the offensive end
5. That was an extremely high level game between two high level teams

Well, I knew Auburn was going to have a streak in them. And while I appreciate that, Gilbert kept us in it with a lot of his work, WTF was he doing at the end of the game trying to dribble through three people. As a leader and a senior, you’ve got to recognize how to play smarter when the game is on the line. I’m hoping that he’ll learn from this as well as the rest of the team learn from playing such a good opponent. My son loves watching Gilbert. But I get so frustrated because I feel like he is borderline out of control most of the time.

Didn’t help that Lipsey couldn’t make those free throws at the end. Looks like everything he was shooting was coming up short.

Tough loss to take.
