Eskildsen did play WR against Arkansas State, and Neal saw some time at safety in that game.I think Eskildsen got a few reps against ASU at WR, but it looks like he’s one of those guys who’s a special teams regular. Likely won’t redshirt, and may get more reps at wideout as the season goes on.
Going by HS 100m times, he’s the fastest on the team.
A lot of times if a player is primarily a special teamer, Campbell will play them in 4 games early, or 4 games mid-season, or 4 games late, so they can still redshirt. I would think that Neal is done for the year unless the coaches think he is making a big difference on special teams or that he could contribute at safety, which would be tough considering the depth we have there. Speaking of which, what happened to Drew Surges? I don't think he has played at all this year. If he's injured, at least he still has his redshirt available.
Eskildsen will probably play 1 more game, and 2 more for Goodwin, and then they will likely be replaced at their special team rolls.
O-line is pretty much the only position we don't see true freshmen get on the field, outside of Brendan Black, of course.
I'm excited to see Jace Gilbert at some point.
