Ill eat crow if wrong, but if Clemson is ranked lower than both Arizona State and Iowa State on Tuesday, they are NOT going to JUMP the 2 loss Big 12 champion. Not going to happen.
That's fair, sir. I would say though, they could turn around and do some serious fuckery the last week regardless of this week's standings and not blink an eye.

Pay attention and you'll find that the committee gives zero f*cks what "should be" and "justification" is. It's open manipulation. It has been from the beginning.
This. They will have no issue putting Clemson ahead of us. They’ll say the SMU win gives them the edge. I think it’s highly likely.

It's the committee's hedge why they have SMU where they do, only Indiana has a worse P4 SOS (Sagarin) than SMU in the CFP rankings. They are Clemson's emotional support opponent. They were a team that the committee could deep six at any time for any reason once a preferred team took the baton, but it hasn't quite happened yet. So they are needed in the top ten to maintain viability.

I think they can spin this 10 different ways and they will.
I personally think the committee would look at Clemson this way.

they lost one ACC game against an 8-4 L'ville team.
They lost 2 games (one close and one not) to SEC Schools that are in the top 15 right now,

Iowa state didn't play anyone in the playoff picture and lost to KU and Tech.
that is how you spin that conversation.

I think ASU/ISU only path to a 4 seed is with Boise losing, but who knows.

Clemson currently has one win against a team with a winning record. They barely beat 7-5 Pitt.

So it is possible that our bowl game might end up being an away game to Notre Dame or Penn State? Is there going to be additional things going on to make it feel like a bowl game? Or are these 1st round away games associated with a Bowl?

ADJP said that actual bowl games will probably be more fan friendly than the first round playoff games at an opponents home stadium.

With all due respect, this simply is not accurate. The CFP ranking will be really important on Tuesday. If Iowa State is ranked higher than Clemson this Tuesday (and they shluld be), 3 loss ACC Champ Clemson is not jumping 2 loss Big 12 champion Iowa State after conference championship weekend. There is just ZERO justification for that as Arizona State and SMU are similar opponenets. Its not like Clemson would be knocking off the #1 team in the country.

Lastly, go look at Clemson's schedule. Their best win by FAR is 7-5 Pitt. Zero other impressive wins. Pair that with 3 losses. They arent jumping Iowa State.
You aren’t wrong, but none of this matters. It’s not about picking the most deserving teams.

It’s about building, creating, and setting up a narrative that supports getting the teams that will create the best ratings.

They have to operate within the guardrails of actual results, but will twist the story of those results around the outcome they want.

depends on how things shake out.....if Clemson were to beat SMU, that would almost guarantee that SMU gets knocked out, but with Clemson taking a loss to South Carolina, Clemson might not even get the bye...they'd probably get the 12th seed.

Top four seeds could be

1. Oregon/PSU
2. Texas/UGA
3. SMU....if SMU loses, they're out entirely....Clemson winning, I don't think they can make the jump to a first round bye considering they will fall after their loss to South Carolina.
4. Boise State...if UNLV beats them, I think UNLV doesn't get a bye and they'd get the 12th seed.

I think for both Iowa State and ASU fans if you want the first round bye, you should be rooting for Clemson and UNLV.

the way I understand it (no expert here), its just a road game. no different than if Iowa State played Penn State week two. Except you lose and your season is over.
I am sure there is a small allotment of tickets, but no idea how much.

It will feel like a college football playoff game, which would be an awesome and unique experience for us.

Playing hypotheticals. Let’s say we won on road and then played in the Fiesta. I would say we would have a pretty good crowd there. If we won that, we would play either in the Cotton Bowl or Orange Bowl. I think we could still get a decent crowd back in Jerry World but have a hard time seeing our fans going to Phoenix and Miami back to back weeks.

The playoffs are going very very very expensive for fans of teams that make deep runs.

Oregon could be looking at playing in Indy this week then Pasadena, then Dallas/Miami, and then Atlanta all in a month and a half. Maybe Grandaddy Knight will pay for some charters and hotels.
