Using your example, I'd love to see Iowa State play the P4 OOC teams Alabama has played in the Regular Season since 2006: Duke (ACC), Florida State (ACC) @ Jax, Clemson (ACC) @ Atlanta, Virginia Tech (ACC) @ Atlanta, Penn State (B1G), @ Duke (ACC), @ Penn State (B1G), Michigan (B1G) @ Arlington, Virginia Tech (ACC) @ Atlanta, West Virginia (Big XII) @ Atlanta, Wisconsin (B1G) @ Arlington, USC (Pac-12) @ Arlington, Florida State (ACC) @ Atlanta, Louisville (ACC) @ Orlando, Duke (ACC) @ Atlanta, Miami (Fla.) (ACC) @ Atlanta, @ Texas (Big XII), Texas (Big XII), @ Wisconsin (B1G). If ISU or any other Big XII team played a varied P4 OOC schedule like that over a 19 year spean with a (17-2) record, it would definitely help the Big XII's perception.
Edit: I just realized I'm really behind here. I don't come here that often. and I can see now that you posted this many pages ago. Sorry.

This is a really flawed example. The Alabama you're talking about is the Alabama that had the best run of any program in NCAA history during Saban's run. Of course they went 17-2 against that schedule.

The rest of the SEC couldn't even duplicate that run, and you're saying that to be respected, the Big 12 has to. This isn't a good example.

They have totally set it up so that even if Boise St. loses they will be ranked ahead of the Big XII winner and there is zero justification for it.
It’s neat how they kept ASU and ISU well behind Boise and moved UNLV up so the Broncos can grab that elusive top 20 win… It’s all f*cking scripted.

I am really shocked that they didn’t move up isu and asu closer to the 12 line so that they could would have an easier decision between Boise and the big 12. Kind of hard to justify taking Iowa state from 16 to 10 or 11 so they get the bye one week from now

They should have swapped asu and isu with ole miss and South Carolina.

Mouth breathers.
Of course if we would not have lost to tech we would be in the drivers seat
Do you really think we would be significantly higher if we beat Tech, because I don’t. Our SOS is worse than Indiana’s, and they would stick us behind them. I agree that I still don’t understand why Boise State is where they are though…

strength of schedule matters for the sec and b1g, but not for the big 12

Iowa State's two losses were not due to the schedule being too tough. If they only lost one of the games, they would be ranked ahead of Boise for sure and in the same neighborhood as S.M.U. and Indiana (who has at least pummelled teams).

Point is that Jamie likes to whine on twitter, when he could choose a different method. If S.M.U., Indiana and Boise have it so easy, give 'em a call and ask them to come out and play! Win-Win for us all.
Speaking of whining, that’s all this entire thread is.

I’m fine with Pollard going on social media to make his case. You have no chance of being heard if you don’t say anything, and we have legitimate gripes. It’s a rigged entertainment product and we’re on the wrong side of the haves and have nots. We all knew this from the beginning. Being silent is being complicit to this sham championship format.
He’s not the right person to do that though. And ISU isn’t the right school to call out Indiana or SMU. We didn’t play the other three 2-loss conference teams either. It comes off as hypocritical

That is true and fair. Hell, I am shocked that Alabama went 17-2 vs. those teams!

Not a good look IMO.

Not a good look for SMU to point out they lost at home to the Big 12 but cut through an easy ACC like a warm knife through butter.

They only had a tough non conf because they scheduled some of those games when they were a g5 and their new league only plays 8.

it won't be Penn St... not now that they're in the Big 10 championship game. Win that and they get first round bye and probably #2 seed; lose that and they fall probably to #6... behind Notre Dame, who'll be the #5.
Unless they get piss stomped, Penn State won’t move down. The committee isn’t gonna punish them for the extra data point. The nutsack they had on at the end of the show really hinted at that. Champ week for the SEC and B1G will only yield net positives for the winner, there won’t be consequences for losing.

That is true and fair. My answer was to someone claiming that Alabama's OOC opponents were conveniently chosen with good names but down years. Hell, I am shocked that Alabama went 17-2 vs. those teams!
The funniest thing? I was angry when they fired Mike Shula, thought he was getting a raw deal. I thought it was unfair.

The hindsight on that one is pretty hilarious. I think I just have rose-tinted glasses of Shula setting up Van Tiffin for The Kick.

Where are you getting our sos worse than Indiana? ISU sos is 35 spots higher per Sagarin, I know there are a lot of them but at the very worst we played a similar schedule.

What I think will happen

  1. If Clemson wins convincingly and B12 title is a close game, Clemson will jump the B12 winner
  2. If the opposite of that happens, B12 winner will beat out the ACC for a bye
  3. If UNLV beats Boise, they will not jump the B12 or ACC for a bye in any scenario
  4. SMU is in win or lose. They win, Bama gets last at-large. If Clemson wins, SMU gets the last at-large

I was a Mike Shula fan too. I saw him play and coach. He did what he was brought in to do and even had a really good team in 2005 (10-2 Cotton Bowl Champion).

Yet another way to scratch your head over some if what the committee sees. What’s interesting is the real lack of good wins among some ranked teams (Indiana, SMU, Miami, Clemson, even Penn State, Notre Dame and Texas really haven’t beat anybody):

1. OREGON
  • Losses: None
  • Best wins: Ohio State, Boise State (?)
2. TEXAS
  • Losses: Georgia (good loss)
  • Best wins: Texas A&M? Florida?
3. PENN STATE
  • Losses: Ohio State (good loss)
  • Best wins: USC? Illinois? They just beat Minnesota by one point
4. NOTRE DAME
  • Losses: Northern Illinois (terrible loss)
  • Best wins: Army? Texas A&M? USC?
5. GEORGIA
  • Losses: Alabama (good loss), Ole Miss
  • Best wins: Texas, Tennessee, Clemson
6. OHIO STATE
  • Losses: Oregon (good loss), Michigan (somewhat bad loss)
  • Best wins: Penn State, Indiana
7. TENNESSEE
  • Losses: Georgia (good loss), Arkansas (bad loss)
  • Best wins: Alabama
8. SMU
  • Losses: BYU
  • Best wins: Louisville? Duke?
9. INDIANA
  • Losses: Ohio State (good loss)
  • Best wins: Michigan? Nebraska?
10. BOISE STATE
  • Losses: Oregon (good loss)
  • Best wins: UNLV
11. ALABAMA
  • Losses: Vanderbilt (bad loss), Tennessee (good loss), Oklahoma (bad loss)
  • Best wins: Georgia, South Carolina
12. MIAMI
  • Losses: Georgia Tech (not that good), Syracuse (also not a good loss)
  • Best wins: Louisville? Duke? Florida? Only an unexplainable video overturn saved them against Virginia Tech, and an uncalled targeting saved them against Cal
13. OLE MISS
  • Losses: Kentucky (bad loss), LSU, Florida
  • Best wins: Georgia, South Carolina
14. SOUTH CAROLINA
  • Losses: Alabama (good loss), Ole Miss (pretty good loss), LSU
  • Best wins: Clemson, Texas A&M?
15. ARIZONA STATE
  • Losses: Texas Tech (not a good loss), BYU (pretty good loss)
  • Best wins: Kansas State, Kansas?
16. IOWA STATE
  • Losses: Texas Tech (not a good loss), Kansas (also not good)
  • Best wins: Kansas State, Iowa, Baylor?
17. CLEMSON
  • Losses: Georgia (good loss), South Carolina (good loss), Louisville
  • Best wins: Pittsburgh? Virginia Tech?
18. BYU
  • Losses: Arizona State (pretty good), Kansas (not so good)
  • Best wins: SMU, Kansas State, Baylor?

I hate that the SEC is essentially getting rewarded for playing one less conference game. And there never seems to be enough discussion around that.
It just means more! In fact, it means so much they get to take a crap ton of losses off their resumes.

Should Big 12 just take it? Committee has our teams 7 spots lower than AP. Other three major conferences all higher than they are in the AP.

Just spread our cheeks and enjoy?

Imagine if the committee had practically no big ten presence and dropped all your teams 2 spots on average from the AP position.

F this committee. The Big 12 already got screwed beyond belief in 2014, possibly our best team in 4 team playoff era. There was nothing wrong with the BCS formula.
