Iowa State's two losses were not due to the schedule being too tough. If they only lost one of the games, they would be ranked ahead of Boise for sure and in the same neighborhood as S.M.U. and Indiana (who has at least pummelled teams).

Point is that Jamie likes to whine on twitter, when he could choose a different method. If S.M.U., Indiana and Boise have it so easy, give 'em a call and ask them to come out and play! Win-Win for us all.

They could have been, his point is a team like Notre Dame doesn’t even have their easy schedule discussed.

On the flip side our basketball team was a NATIONAL SCANDAL with countless articles written because we had weak non conf sos even though our full season sos was elite.

I would argue that these teams were all drunk during these games

I wouldn't.

There's talent there, but they've been vulnerable and don't seem to have the typical depth.

Over the long haul, better on a talent basis.

It takes one weird game though as we've seen on countless occasions over the decades.

I mean we also avoided BYU, Colorado, and ASU. This whole playoff is already tiresome and I'm kind of already sick of it before it even starts.

It’s only tiresome because the committee sucks and has always sucked. Bcs formula was 100X better and basketball committee is drastically more consistent, professional and transparent.

If Iowa State was 11-1 (like ND) and beat Ariz. State to finish (12-1) and Big XII Champion, they would end up with a 3 or 4 seed Fiesta Bye above ND.

Basketball is a different animal, Iowa State still finished with a high seed even with all of that drivel.

What they have accomplished is making the NFL look amazing in comparison. A straightforward playoff system seeded purely by what happens on the field. And it works.

I’m fine with Pollard going on social media to make his case. You have no chance of being heard if you don’t say anything, and we have legitimate gripes. It’s a rigged entertainment product and we’re on the wrong side of the haves and have nots. We all knew this from the beginning. Being silent is being complicit to this sham championship format.

8 team playoff. Top 5 conf champs. 3 at large. Use something more like bcs formula for at large and seedings. Conf champ games make it more like a 16 team playoff.

The ny6 bowls are the 6 games before title game.

Done.

Well, I'm incredibly relaxed over the whole thing, but that doesn't make it better.

I'm more triggered by people seeming to be surprised that they'll throw a three loss Bama team in there.

We’re significantly lower in cfp rating than AP. Other three top leagues are all higher than AP. Its obvious to people who don’t delude themselves.

I’ve tried so hard to get more into the NFL over college after all this realignment. It’s just so fair and balanced. But I can’t quit CFB it just keeps pulling me back in

I am now hoping the ACC also gets just one bid (like the Big 12). That will hopefully convince the ACC commissioner to partner with Yormark in demanding a 16-team playoff with the autobids that were discussed a few months ago: 4 for SEC, 4 for Big 10, 2 for ACC and 2 for Big 12.

That's the best deal the Big 12 will get. We need to demand it.

If our one game is gonna be @ #5 true road game every year few deals could be worse. Some g5 team is gonna have a great record most years while we play a deep schedule.

Yeah it’s tough to beat the emotional bond that comes with college fandom.

I will say that it used to be the case that I could watch any random CFB game, while NFL was tough for me to watch anything but my team (GB).

Now that’s completely flipped; I love tuning into whatever NFL game is on, while with what’s happened to college football I don’t have much interest beyond ISU or B12 games.

KSU coach was right, go to 8 game conference schedule.

We beat the #1 acc team on the road and the biased committee still thinks the acc teams are better. It was pointless to play acc head to head.

If we only played 8 there’s a decent but not certain chance one of our 3 two loss teams is a one loss team.

These dipwads on the Sirius/XM college sports channel are infuriatingly stupid. They’re taking Warde Manuel’s answer to Rece Davis - that teams not in CCGs, like Alabama/Miami/South Carolina/Ole Miss aren’t going to move next week relative to each other - and misunderstanding it to infer “He said Alabama won’t move from 11, they must be in the playoff for sure!”

Manuel didn’t say that. He was trying to answer Davis’ (kinda dumb) question about whether Miami or South Carolina might somehow jump Alabama next week without playing, and his somewhat confusing answer about rankings being “locked in” confused the jamokes on XM.

If Clemson beats SMU, there’s a chance (slight as it may be) that SMU still ends up ranked above Alabama, and therefore both Clemson and SMU are in and Alabama is out. Bama isn’t “locked in” at 11 - they could move down. Nothing Manuel said contradicted that. What he did say is that the committee isn’t going to move teams not playing this week relative to other teams that aren’t playing this week, so an idle Miami or South Carolina isn’t jumping an idle Alabama.

Basically it makes it clear what I said Sunday: eleven of the playoff spots are set (well, I mean, depending on who wins the MWC/Big XII/ACC games). The only question is if Clemson wins, does SMU stay above Alabama. My guess is probably not, but it’s at least possible.
I do think they will (and should) keep SMU above Bama. If SMU loses they really shouldn’t fall behind anyone but Boise (if they win) and potentially the B12 champ (although that seems like a big jump for the B12 conference winner given where they are currently ranked).

You can’t reward Indiana or Bama for not playing in their conference championship

That said, the committee is full of ****, and they could definitely get Bama in through the same playbook as last year. Find some narrative on why Bama is more worthy than SMU and trot out their ESPN figureheads to bang the drum.
