It’s already happening. “Look over here at these Top 25 wins! Don’t look under the rug at those losses to Vandy and Oklahoma, those don’t matter … but SMU couldn’t even win the ACC title game, how can we put them in over this powerhouse 6th-place SEC team?”

If good
Clemson really doesn’t have one single signature win this year. Even Iowa State beat pretty good teams in Kansas State, Baylor, and at Iowa … Clemson’s best win is, what, Pittsburgh? Virginia Tech?

The AP poll makes more sense in relation to Clemson and big 12 teams.

The committee putting Clemson in front of BYU makes no sense other than boosting teams pre ccg.

I hope I’m wrong but I’d be shocked if Clemson winning its ccg doesn’t jump big 12 champ.

So in the next to final ranking, we have 4 team from the B10 and 4 from the SEC. So one team from the B12 gets into the playoff, along with ND, Boise and depending on what happens in the ACC one or two. Any one want to bet the possibility that SMU loses that they stay ahead of Alabama?

Exactly what the committee wants, 4 teams in from the SEC and B10, then the B12 and ACC fighting it out for 3 leftover spots.

That is exactly what is happening. At the end of the day, I just don't worry about it. It is a sham. I really just want Iowa State to win the Big XII CCG, and wherever they are sent is an opportunity. Doesn't mean it is fair or that I like it, but it does present an incredible opportunity. Just imagine if Big XII Champion goes into South Bend and beats Notre Dame. That would be wonderful.

I don't entirely disagree but punching down at another school's AD on social media isn't going to do anything in terms of swaying the committee.

Funny how it did for the NCAA Basketball tournament earlier this year... and funny how it was an ACC AD (can't remember whether it was VA Tech or Clemson) that was poking at ISU's nonconference SOS... which literally became the narrative for the committee making ISU the lowest #2 seed in the tournament.

8 team playoff. Top 5 conf champs. 3 at large. Use something more like bcs formula for at large and seedings. Conf champ games make it more like a 16 team playoff.

The ny6 bowls are the 6 games before title game.

Done.
Yes that would be fine 15 years ago. You simply can’t do it that way with how big the conferences are now. Too many teams do not play each other. How would we have felt if Houston would have won and BYU/ASU was the title to no fault of our own?

Every playoff prediction I’ve seen since Sunday has ASU winning…
It's an afterthought. These aren't their personal choices for who will win the Big 12 CCG. It's the expectation that the favored team wins. I really don't think it's meant as disrespect towards ISU, so much as no thought at all... about either ISU or ASU.

It definitely feels like there's been an active effort to try to push the big 12 down and push the ACC up in both major sports.

Whether that's because there's a preference (more people in the ACC footprint, bigger brands) or because by pushing the perception of the big 12 down to 4 (or more, by pushing the big 12 behind Boise) it clearly delineates a P2 and "everyone else" even though the big 12 is more than competitive in the actual metrics with the P2.

Where are you getting our sos worse than Indiana? ISU sos is 35 spots higher per Sagarin, I know there are a lot of them but at the very worst we played a similar schedule.
Sports Illustrated- really was just the first one I saw. I didn’t realize there were multiple opinions on that. They had Indiana at 51 and ISU at 69.

The playoff committee is frustrating no question. I agree with a lot of thoughts on this thread.

But then I take a breath and realize what’s in front of us. We win and we are in the ******* college football playoffs. I don’t care what seed we are. To be in this position is so awesome.

Notre Dame is very good per Sagarin.
SMU deserves the bye if they win per Sagarin.
Boise St is worst than Kansas and Texas Tech per Sagarin.

We will need a miracle to win a road game.

Sucks but I guess it is what it is. I just wish the committee had to justify things to the public...but they don't so either ISU or ASU needs to go on a run and make some noise.

Unless we or ASU show something this year in the CFP or the team next year does just to get some respect, very little will change.
This is payback for spoiling ESPNs plan to destroy the B12 and only have PAC12, B10, ACC, and SEC left.

This whole thing is a sham, there is no doubt. The media and committee are hellbent on the Big12's destruction.

But let's not forget TT game. If we don't crap ourselves that day, we are comfortably in a bye slot with a win Sat.

Iowa State will get no respect till they can show they can win the big ones like this.

I’m okay with where ISU is in the playoff rankings right now. Our schedule has been soft and our best wins are against 3 8-4 teams. Good wins, not great. But if we beat a top 15 ASU team, it adds a signature win that many teams like SMU, Indiana, Texas, ND, and others don’t have and it would be a joke if Boise, along with several of those at-large teams jump ISU (which they will).

I still have hope that the committee will see this in their final rankings - if they don’t, it’s a really bad precedent to set.

I hope it's Penn State. Of all the teams in the CFP top 5, they're the ones I think we have the best chance at if they don't bring their A-game.

I like playing Penn State as an opponent. I do not like playing in Happy Valley in late December. That PSU team is built to play in cold windy environments. If this is the matchup, I may hope for snow as that is always the great equalizer.

I don’t understand all the angst over our ranking and the playoff rankings in general. The B12 2 loss teams are ranked fairly. Surely nobody thought prior to the season that a 2 loss Big 12 team would get in without winning the championship game? Or be ranked above every 3 loss SEC team?

The only gripe I have is Boise is overrated given their lack of quality wins. Also think Miami is a bit overrated.
