Doubt it. The narrative this year is already that the SEC is so strong. All those losses will be "quality losses".
That was the same thinking as the last time we had a 1-seed-caliber team (2000) and got hosed so that the Pac-12 could have two 1-seeds. At least we got to play the first two rounds in Minneapolis. The problem then is you end up playing what is essentially the national championship game in the elite 8 in what's essentially a home game for your opponent.
Thankfully Auburn Hills isn’t a site this year. And the only real home advantage would be UCONN in NJ or Duke in Atlanta. But, I’d probably welcome those games in the E8 over a Tennessee or Auburn anywhere else.
Still a long season to hash this out. Maybe Broome’s injury lingers and Auburn plays themselves into a lower seed? Or, the refs start calling fouls on Tennessee in the tournament and they bow out early. Gonna be a fun few months. The Big12 looks like it’ll be a good challenge without beating the team down this year.
