Maybe I'm just being pessimistic but I wouldn't be surprised. The formula to beat us is out there and opposing coaches would be stupid not to follow it.
But hasn't this always been the way to beat us? Surly the Big 12 teams know the formula already, especially the teams we've played forever

BUT…teams have to have the athletes to do it. OSU doesn’t have the horses like USC or UConn. Now if they have someone go unconscious in a once in a lifetime performance like McDermott did…that’s something different.

Deny the lob pass to Audi and force the other 4 to beat them?

They don't need to be South Carolina or UConn, they just need to be UNI or Iowa.

I assumed you meant how to beat our defense, which is is that same as it has always been. Bad.

UNI and Iowa are vastly different teams. UNI only beat us because one player found lightning in a bottle for one game. Iowa and ISU are very close and I would strongly wager ISU would win 3 or 4 out of five on a neutral court. You have to factor in home court in both, but it was a much bigger deal in the Iowa game. I think the sisters are being majorly short changed. They have issues to solve but they are still a good team that could be a very good team.

I guess we'll just have to see how the season plays out.
Was going to send this as a personal message but couldn’t…so I figure it’s worth sharing here…maybe! Lol

I go back and forth about what I think I’m going to see Saturday. I balance the tough schedule we’ve played (which only tells us we aren’t a top team….or even close) versus the weak sisters schedule OSU has played. They might have confidence. Is our psyche damaged by those two butt kickings? Which Brown will show up? Will anyone else show up? So many questions and it all leaves me thinking literally anything could happen. So, I don’t think I’ll be surprised by us being blown out, a close game or us blowing OSU out. We are going to learn more about this team in the first 4-5 Big 12 games than anything we learned from the non-conference.

I was fully expecting a good game from McDermott against us - but Laube and that post were shooting out of their ever-freakin' minds. THREE players were unconscious that night. By contrast, only one of those players is shooting well tonight for UNI against the Hoks (Laube). Maya is 2-8 so far (Mid-4th) & the other girls not named Laube or McDermott haven't made a three. UNI is only down 4. Our game vs UNI was a huge anomaly in our season thus far.

I agree. They really need Brown and Ryan to step up

Agree, but it doesn't look like defense is particularly worse this year. I looked at the beginning of the season and saw the entire time Bill has been our coach we have not been in the top half of the league in points allowed.
We replaced two of our better defensive wings/forwards (Diew and Bristow) with fairly unathletic shooters. That has negatively impacted the defense. Audi's backup is also not as strong as Natabou IMO.

Coaching. You need ball movement and freedom for players to play. When you feed the ball down low first every possession the result is players watching and not moving and playing. Players not engaged.
Bill’s team are traditionally not good defensively. I may be the minority, but I think it’s time for someone else to lead The Sisters.

Bristow barely played last year. Sometimes not at all. Diew strangely became an offensive liability as well. I was sure hopeful we'd see an improvement at the post backup, but you’re absolutely right….its not. And Natabou wasn’t a scoring threat. But she was solid on D And rebounded well.

The poor non con schedules could hurt teams given the Big 12 in wbb isn't as strong as it has in the past so not like conference games can up those sos all that much when it comes resume time for ncaa's.

Watching UConn and USC. Focusing on the offenses being run. UConn isn’t doing much that is different from our offense EXCEPT their two guards are moving better out top and pass the ball more often. They have one player that is stationary at each corner and the post being used to set screens. BUT what I do see are those two guards out front slashing the lane which makes a huge difference. The two standing in the corners are fairly static most of the time. Small sample of about 8-10 possessions.

Okay was discussing with my wife and she brought up a good point. Have we run a Pick and roll at all this year?

Seems like something could potentially work with Williams.

After the smoke cleared yesterday I forgot to check in on how the other Big 12 teams did.
  • Colorado wins the first game of the John Denver Series as the Rocky Mountain High gals outscored the Mountain Mommas in Boulder to the tune of 25-9 in the 4th and came from behind to beat #13 WVU 65-60.
  • Baylor thumped Kansas in Lawrence by 20 points. Good start for Baylor after falling off the radar.
  • Utah pasted 102 point on ASU in Utah but also gave up 82.
  • Arizona at BYU. Nobody cares.
  • Previously noted TCU went all Hulk smash on woeful UCF by 40 points.
  • Kansas State and TT won at home today in unspectacular fashion over Cinci and Houston.

Well, I’m honestly shocked, but Crème’s bracketology still ISU as an 8 seed. Still giving the ladies a strong benefit of the doubt. I really expected them to be a bubble team “right now.”
