Well, I’m honestly shocked, but Crème’s bracketology still ISU as an 8 seed. Still giving the ladies a strong benefit of the doubt. I really expected them to be a bubble team “right now.”

Benefit of the doubt and still consistent with last polling and our loss was at least on the road. Next five games should be interesting, first two at home vs Kansas and Utah (both middle of the pack) than the Arizona road trip versus cellar dweller ASU and middle of the pack Arizona. Finish off with middle of the pack TT at Hilton before we play a team projected to be in the top third of the league. Can't stumble too much over this stretch.

Good catch. The new one just out has us as a ten seed. Maybe that’s appropriate with a good dose of “benefit of the doubt” still tossed in! The cool part is the matchups it shows. They are really quite good.

Yeah, 10 seed sounds about right for a snapshot of where we are right now on 12/25/24.

My Christmas Day prognostication is for us to be a 7/8 somewhere, repeat of last year. I'll revisit that 5 or 6 games into conference play but that will still be prior to playing a top tier team. Good news is the conference isn't running a gantlet of great teams, number of decent teams but not loaded with ranked teams and no one looks to have a super tough schedule draw. Bad news is a winning record in Big 12 might not be the near automatic invite it used to be. Better get 11 or 12 wins and not flirt with NIT with 10 or 9 wins.

Watching UConn and USC. Focusing on the offenses being run. UConn isn’t doing much that is different from our offense EXCEPT their two guards are moving better out top and pass the ball more often. They have one player that is stationary at each corner and the post being used to set screens. BUT what I do see are those two guards out front slashing the lane which makes a huge difference. The two standing in the corners are fairly static most of the time. Small sample of about 8-10 possessions.
Need creators - we have none

I was fully expecting a good game from McDermott against us - but Laube and that post were shooting out of their ever-freakin' minds. THREE players were unconscious that night. By contrast, only one of those players is shooting well tonight for UNI against the Hoks (Laube). .
Thru 12/22/24, Kayba Laube is scoring 14.9 PPG and leading the NCAA in 3PT% at 53.95%. She's from Marion, playing her 5th year at UNI - too bad we didn't negotiate a package deal for Nate Heise & Kayba Laube, since he's been a steadying influence on the men's team and she's exactly what we're missing in 24/25!

I wonder why there are no ISU women listed, as Sydney Harris is shooting .510 and Addy Brown is shooting .417, which would qualify both for top 50? It's not that there's a minimum number of shots that hasn't been met, as EIU's Taylor McCabe is on the list with only 24 attempts.

I was an assistant GBB coach for Grinnell when we played Marion in the 4A final (2018). We had a brief 7 pt lead in the first half. Unfortunately, we laid an egg the rest of the game & got beat fairly handily. Laube was a Sophomore - but, by far, their best player. The thing with her shots against the Cyclones this year was that she was shooting & MAKING Caitlyn Clark threes that game - she is a good shooter, but hitting those types of threes was an anomaly, imho.

Makes me think they depend on the schools to submit the statistics and Iowa State is not doing that?

Not listed in Big 12 stats either although they list Harris in threes per game at 1.9.

From the NCAA…”The NCAA collects statistical data from schools by having them submit self-reported data through online forms, where schools input information like game results, player statistics, and demographic details directly into the NCAA system.“

It's great fun watching you superior basketball minds twist in the wind trying to figure out why ISU players aren't listed on the 3pt% chart.
