Random Thoughts 18: The Year of Fire

Mating duet probably. Woods get noisy at night now with the Great Horned Owls pairing up. They pair up and mate early.

I believe it was Great Horned Owls. Looked up their hoot and it sounded the same. What's interesting is that I live in WDM near the I-80/35/235 west mix master. Have owls ever been associated with the paranormal? That weird feeling in the air was just earie.

Weird owl story. I delivered newspapers in the mid '90s for some extra cash. One morning I am crossing the street and something hits me in the back of the head. Felt like a bean bag. I didn't hear anything hit the ground so I lookup and see an owl swooping up to the roof of the house across the street. Freaky. Had my wife check my head when I got home and had talon marks on the back and top of my head.

I'm sorry about Leopold. That's the worst part of loving pets - saying goodbye to them.

Thanks for the thoughts. It is tough to say goodbye. As I mentioned here before she was quite bonded with him. She is devastated right now. Leo was not just a pet but a friend.

It is interesting the bonds that can be formed between humans and pets. I have a special bond with my dog Buster. It's difficult to describe but it's as if we know what each other is thinking in different situations. We spent a lot of time together after I was laid off from a job after 20 years. We went for carrides and hikes in the woods 2-3 times a day for about 2-years while I was looking for another full-time job. Had many good conversations.

This fog sure has made the trees look pretty being all frosted up the way they are. It is like a Christmas card outside today.
Also finished up with work for the day. Tim e to wash work clohtes and be off till the 26th. Life is good.

Went to gym before it closed at 3:00. Yikes, it was crowded around 12:30. Saw the Russian spy, Natasha.

And saw another older gal, long white hair like Emmylou Harris, and she was lifting weights while wearing a big Santa coat and red plaid tights. Made my day. Made me smile.

Got my heated pants and heated shirt for work. Some 4K movies. The usual stuff like Jameson, gift cards, body wash, socks, chocolate. And I got a movie poster, I'll give you a hint. "He was a soldier of Rome. Posterize him."
