They should have been in over SMU imo, but at the very least should have more seriously in the at-large conversation.
BYU should have been in. Yes, they missed their conference title game but hell, so did Indiana.

BYU's defense, as it showed against Colorado and much of the season, was very good to near elite. It's offense was not special but it was serviceable with respectable parts at every level.

And it didn't have a "bad" loss. It lost to Kansas, as did ourselves and Colorado by 4 in a defensive battle and lost by 5 to the eventual conference champion on the road in a wild game where the fans rushed the field early. They outgained Kansas 354-242 and held them to 2.2 yards rushing, won TOP... they just went 2-4 in the redzone where Kansas went 3-3.

BYU out gained Arizona State 440-401 in total yards. Arizona State averaged 3.5 yards a rush. Retzlaff threw two picks that helped them fall behind 21-0 and they couldn't quite rally back.

BYU 100% deserved to be in as they had a better non-conference win over SMU than either Boise or Indiana, had out gained both teams it lost to so you could argue that they were never out classed or out played, they just, to steal a CMC saying, lost in the margins. Whereas Kansas, we were out played. Tech, we lost in the margins but KU was just better on that given Saturday.

BYU 100% should have been in over one of : SMU, Boise or Indiana. They weren't and it is what it is. But they were deserving

Horrible tragedy in New Orleans overnight. Close to the Super Dome where the Sugar Bowl is supposed to be played tonight.

I disagree because I don't think you can put a 3rd or 4th place team in without putting in the 2nd place team.

Not a single decent playoff game yet. Hope we get one today. I think tOSU-Oregon game will basically be the championship game. It was set up horribly.

Penn States path to the semi-finals is like the year Prohm made the Sweet 16 beating Iona and UT-Arlington.

SIAP, but it was Arkansas-Little Rock, not UT-Arlington.

And personally I don't understand why this is used as a negative against the winning team in a tournament format like the NCAA tournament and now the football playoff. You don't control who you play.

And while Steve Prohm certainly had his shortcomings, and while I was at one point one of his staunchest defenders I was ready to move on from him in '21 as much as anyone else, the way his "only" beating 13 and 12 seeds to get to the Sweet 16 was used against him by posters who decided to hate him from Day One and who definitely had an agenda against him was completely unfair and total bullsh!t.

Sorry to derail the thread ;).
