Maybe he would have won the game, i get people were complaining, but firing him is totally different from rewriting his contract if he had lost again in that game. Hell everyone of those alum that were ******** then would love to have him there coaching today. Winning has a tendancy to do that to a fan base, if OSU wins it this year, Day's record against Michigan will not matter.
Agreed if day wins that natty he’s secure. Also yep you’re right the takes on Harbaugh were a total 180 but his record against the rivals was awful before covid. He never had a good QB as the QB whisperer and really struggled in big games.

Alums, and boosters wanted him out and if he lost that year he was gone. Covid changed alot but missing that game got Michigan over the hump and back to winning.

The playoffs help determine the best teams so I won'd deny that but I think I preferred the days when the bowls were just bowls and that was it.

It had absolutely nothing to do with knowing the opponent’s plays.

Nothing.

He would get fired because he can’t beat beat Michigan, chip kelly legit left a high paying HC job to become a coordinator. Those players being paid are what allow you to sleep walk to 40 point wins. OSU

Tressel was fired for the tattoo scandal not due to performance. You have to go back 25 years to the last coach that was fired for performance at OSU which was cooper and he is the only head coach since 1950 to not win a big ten title at OSU
Hayes wasn’t fired for peformance either. You can argue that pressure to win indirectly ended up costing Tressel his job. I guess the point I was trying to make is there is only one coach at OSU in 75 years who resigned and was not fired. And in Hayes’ case, he always remembered that the OSU fans were against his hiring in 1950, because they wanted Faurot. Even though it’s one of the top jobs, It’s a powder keg and the track record shows that it usually doesn’t end well for whoever is coach.

It took the sixth game into the playoffs to have a compelling game. And now they are talking about adding two more teams?

How much time have you spent with tOSU fans, alumni, donors, or in Columbus? I worked in sports media, in Columbus, OH, and saw it happen to John Cooper for going 2-10 v. Michigan. You have no idea what you're talking about. These people are certifiably nuts when it comes to Michigan.
Back then yes.
You had to Beat Michigan to win the Big Ten and any chance at a National Title.

Now, you can lose to Michigan and still will the National Championship.

Yes. It means a lot. It means everything….but now there’s an out. Win National Championships.

And yes, I lived in Ohio for 14 years some of it in Columbus.

They had 4 bcs bowls at one point. They could’ve added 3 games.

And maybe it would have been more interesting then.

I like to watch football just to watch it but I feel like I'll be somewhat checked out by the semis for really caring.

Yeah that's why I said if Day wins a natty it'll definitely buy him time. But if he goes a few years without winning a natty with continued losses v. Michigan, he'll be gone, no matter what his record is.

I disagree because I don't think you can put a 3rd or 4th place team in without putting in the 2nd place team.
I think you can when the 2nd place team and you are even. I think if say, the 2nd place team was 11-2. And the 3rd place team, was, say, 8-4... then I would 100% agree.

However, if you have a tie-breaker scenario , much like the Big 12 had this year... then I think you can, if the 2nd place team loses big in the title game.

There are certain criteria to be met, and sure, it gets tricky... but I think it's possible if

A) Its a tie-breaker scenario or B
B) Its a 11-2 or 10-3 following the conference title game team at #2, and a 10-2 without a head to head meeting and

AND

The 2nd place team was blown out in the conference title game.

If you meet those three scenarios, then I'm okay with it. But only under if one of those two occurs

4th place should never get in. No conference should ever get 4 out of 12.
