This person will never get frustrated with lack of beer sales.

I don't know how that end of game targeting review did not turn into a targeting call. If that wasn't textbook targeting I don't know what was. Might not have meant Arizona State wins, but it makes you wonder
It wasn’t targeting because the powers way above my pay grade did not want ASU to win that game let alone on that call.

Selling alcohol isn’t a be all, end all and its not like it isn’t already finding its way into JTS, but selling alcohol is at least a visible gesture that the AD is leveraging every possible source of revenue rather than just relying on tapping out NCC donors and increasing season ticket prices. 100% agree with CW and Blum that We Will contributions need to count towards the seat purchase.

yes, there are expenses associated with selling alcohol
$4.2m revenue isnt $4.2m profit

but its also more than $0

i remember that from Econ 101 even if it did take me twice to pass it : )

also lol that iowa WBB games sold almost DOUBLE what MBB sold

General consensus based on some google research shows that the schools nets about 50% of the cost after product, insurance, vendors, etc. So assuming we’d drink as much as Iowa (less FB fans but more basketball fans), we are leaving $1-$2 mil on the table?

When you are trying to close a $20 million gap, that’s not insignificant.

There’s a lot more to factor in before you say we are leaving money on the table.

Agree we don’t know the exact value but it’s most certainly a net positive. Why would ISU be any different than other schools? They all make money on alcohol sales.

I respectfully disagree. I think CW is wrong to criticize Campbell for not being more forthcoming about injuries and opt-outs.

Being more forthcoming about this creates a competitive disadvantage and it only helps the gamblers. Anything Campbell can do to make it less attractive for gamblers is fine by me.
Two really good points about the competitive disadvantage and gambling. Deserves to be quoted again so it doesn't get lost in the thread.

Sukup club generates a lot of revenue on ticket sales that would certainly go down if we sold to the general public. They’ve done a lot of research on this subject.

Regarding alcohol: People at ISU tell me it would likely bring in less than a million after insurance, all that crap that's over my head. So feel free to form whatever opinion you have on that.

My take on the opt-outs, etc. It's a systematic thing. Not a specific critique of ISU. The leaders of college athletics are making this professional sports, not me. If they want to keep going this way, then have participation reports like the NFL does. Transparency is a good thing.. This will be mandatory across the board in the next two years. Gambling is a part of the equation, but not the entire thing. I think fans (who are paying the bill) deserve the right to know what's going on - especially once these guys are officially getting paid.

Full disclosure: I don't know how they are going to do it all with HIPPA laws and what not. Smarter people than me will figure it out.

When it comes to alcohol sales, people need to realize if you are going to argue for it you need to do it for the fan experience and not generating revenue. The idea Pollard is not taking advantage of some big money maker is silly.

I don't think there is any question that they will if/when WWC funds are transitioned to the AD effective July 1st.

I was shocked by Blum's disclosure that there are more WWC contributors than NCC contributors.

But I also think more than just the money it shows fans you are trying EVERYTHING not just asking fans to continue to spend more. It also would make the gameday atmosphere more fun when you continue to ask us to spend more.
