On a somewhat related note

A couple of years ago I went more than a year without booze. Also cut the fast food

It was crazy how things changed.

Never really got back into the booze groove after that.
going to agree and add on to this.

people are so concerned with hitting the gym/treadmill for weight loss.

Once i cut booze, pop, cut back on carbs, and just took a walk each day, the weight just came off.
looked better, felt better, a lot of pain and inflation went away.

the 2nd part of this that i wasn't expecting is doing a financial comparison.
when i was drinking and eating whatever I wanted, it got really expensive.

so in summary, i look and feel better, head is clear and have money to spend on other things.

It’s absolutely 80% diet and 20% exercise. Maybe 90/10.

Depends on where you’re at and what your goals are.
That’s fair, but you can work out a lot and eat like **** and get nowhere. If you eat well it’s tough to gain a lot of weight. I have been down this road a few times.

I don't drink very often so don't really pay attention to these types of things but if it helps people to take a break that's great.

I was out faster than Kramer in The Contest episode. I live in NE Iowa though where drinking at high school grad parties, kid's first birthdays and immediately after visitation at a wake is 100% normal.

I've REALLY slowed down since having kids.. I still have a lot of wine and liquor from COVID.

I sleep better and maintained body weight for 4 years, with only an average exercise schedule. Also saves decent $$$
I've really tapered in the past yr and even a glass of sangria Saturday night tanked my sleep.
