Not exactly sure.
I was out faster than Kramer in The Contest episode. I live in NE Iowa though where drinking at high school grad parties, kid's first birthdays and immediately after visitation at a wake is 100% normal.
My FIL was at a funeral where the burial consisted of a dude grabbing a post hole auger, digging a hole, dropping the urn in it, kicking the hole full of dirt, then went back to his trunk, got a bottle of OJ and one of Vodka and poured everyone a screwdriver right there since the dude in the hole drank them all the time.

Probably end up being Damp January in the end.

After football season and holidays, the goal is to avoid overindulging for a while.

I’m on the Dry Jan wagon. This break is long overdue. I think the longest I’ve gone is about 2 weeks so I really just need to prove to myself I can take an entire month off.

My first test was tonight at bowling league and was able to abstain with the help of 2 NA beers.

Wishing everyone luck.

How's all 4 of us that actually decided to do this holding up on the first weekend night? We had our Winestyles club pick up and tasting we could have done tonight. My wife actually wanted to go, but we skipped and went to the gym instead. I'm figuring that was probably about a 600 calorie swing in my favor.

Also, I didn't buy any booze at HyVee today. I probably would have at least bought a nice 6-pack since I'm pretty stalked up on liquor after Christmas presents. That saved me $12 and I likely would have tapped into my bottle of Botanist gin tonight.

I'm looking forward to being able to get up early feeling good to get a harder workout in, do a few house things, and then head to Hilton!

I haven’t had a drink since Christmas night. Then again I haven’t had any pop since Saturday. I also cut out my energy drink in the morning. I have an iced half caf with almond milk in the morning instead. Wife asked when I didn’t get drink on New Year’s night if I was doing Dry January. I actually didn’t even want one.

My dad’s favorite beer was Hamm’s. Every year on Memorial Day, in addition to the flowers, I put a can on his grave.

I’m staying sober until St Patrick’s Day. I’ve done it before and didn’t struggle. This year I’m kicking it up a notch by sticking to zero sugar soda. Combined with running/working out, the last time the pounds melted away.

I should be fine this weekend. Plan to get a lot of stuff done around the house. Next weekend I have an ice fishing trip. I’m planning to picking up a some delta 9 drinks as well as some Guinness NA as I’ve heard those are pretty close to the original, taste wise.

Is it legal to ice fish without booze?

This will be the true test. If you can beat that then you can beat anything.

My birthday is January 25th, so the last few years I've done "dry January" until my birthday. So not quite a full month, but enough to take a bit of a break after drinking and eating way too much over the holidays. Usually lose a few pounds every year and get into much better sleeping and eating habits. But I will admit, January is a brutal month to pull it off. It's been much easier to do it Utah then when I lived in Iowa because at least I can go skiing to keep myself busy. In IA it felt like almost all social events involved drinking of some sort and it was harder to avoid the sauce.
