We probably lucked out a bit on that OOB too. Looked like Gilbert was a bit out of control in that and we could have had an ending like the Auburn one.
I may catch some flack for this, but I prefer Lipsey to have the ball in his hands in those situations. Gilbert can get a little out of control and is prone to the turnover. Lipsey, not so much. Having said that, if your looking for someone to make the play on their own without assistance, Gilbert is pretty tough.

So coaches only give input on their specific area?
He just joined the staff. He's as junior as it gets. He's never coached, let alone at this level. It's not a criticism, just a realistic assessment. He's here for individual player development and to learn the ropes of coaching. He's likely been more concerned with getting his family settled in Ames than contributing to game plans.

Kind of hit not really. Williams is one of the best scorers in the conference and made some tough shots.

I’m aware, and he did a good job most of the game. But that doesn’t mean that Heise wasn’t having trouble with him in OT.

It kinda helped us that TT made the last free throw in regulation. Allowed us to get more time on the clock and set something up. If he misses, we likely see Gilbert go to the hoop out of control. It seemed like Momcilovic was supposed to get it back to Gilbert and then up to Lipsey. He made a good decision when that wasn't open and still executed the plan. I'd be interested to see exactly what was drawn up cause Milan seemed surprised to be unguarded.

I thought this too after the game was over

His teams have. We have no idea how these are developed and implemented.

It could be that the players are just getting better and better. That definitely helps.

But I think it is silly to think that TJ's coaching hasn't improved over the last 4 years as well. It has.

I’m speaking more of giving the full staff credit vs just HC

Surely already posted but how good was our post time out play calls? Got easy looks just about every time.

And agree the last play to Jefferson was beautiful. That does not happen in prior years because we don’t have a real back to basket threat that is also a reliable free throw shooter.
